Scheduled Maintenance (September 2, 2011)

We will be bringing down Star Trek Online on Friday, September 2nd from 7:00AM to 9:00AM PDT (1400 to 1600 UTC) in order to perform maintenance and apply a new minor bugfix patch. We will provide an update once the maintenance has been completed.

    Being in Korea is starting to suck. You guys bring the servers done when I have time to play. :P Seriously though, thank you for all you (Cryptic) guys do though. I love this game and its half because it's Trek and half because the dev team does their absolute best to keep the players in the know despite all the trolls out there. PALL =/\=

    I beg Cryptic not go through with this patch to restrict the instances of the borg to only 5 ships. I did 3 encounters with only 5 ships and I failed all 3. Give us at least 10 ships or give us more time.

    IMPOSSIBLE ISNT FUN

    It is very possible with 5 Rear Admirals or better... 5 Lieutenant Commanders on the other hand are going to get creamed. This was not well thought out. Better would have been to have the borg levelled to the level of the players rather than putting the players at the borg's level. Have several instances of it and channel all the lieutenants into one, all the LCs into another, all the CMDRs into another etc.

    Honestly Devs, did you even try this with 5 LTs?

    When we were testing it at one point it was too easy to do solo. Don't know what you mean by impossible are you guys bringing hazard emitters and tactical team to counter the borg? I'd just suggest to come ready to fight them before saying its impossible.

    You're from South Korea? Cool, I was stationed there years ago near Dongducheon (Camp Casey).

    I wonder is this new 7Am - 9AM downtime going to be a new standard or is this just a coincidence it happened more than once.

    Seems to be the new norm. And my guess is so that they can have more manpower in the office at a more reasonable time.

    And works for me...the server's up when I get home from working the overnight shift here on the east coast :p

    Why does these updates take so long? My current getting angry limit is 15 minutes.

    Because stopping and starting a database in a save way takes time. Plus the time needed to apply the patch to the server code, plus the time they need to check if the game starts and works.

    From what little birdies told us, yes this is the new norm so more dev's can be zombies and around incase something explodes :p

    They have to fix the TRIBBLE up of last night when everyone got DC because the maps were missing.

    having 15+ ships in one instance isn't fun either, if the Borg dont scale up accordingly
    ... i was like "oh thanx for letting me shoot at it too!" half of the time -.-

    so much for the Borg being scarry *yawn*





    Also if it is supposed to be a 5 Player instance, why no auto teaming, like the PvP / PvE queue does?



    On the other hand, it's an MMO, you know ...like in MASSIVE?
    why not just scale the instance up if more player join in?

    If there are 3 teams instead of one, scale the quest up to 12 Borg Mobs and give the Boss 3x the normal Health + 3x Firepower


    Anyway, i'd request to put the Borg Cubes and Spheres to Elite difficulty, they pop way to easy.
    The Boss ships are fine for 5 or less players, but could use a bit more Firepower, the worst damage i get is if i am to near to the explosion ;P

    I died ONCE and did like 15 of them...
    and that was because of the instakill V'Ger Torpedo (which i think is cool, just not fast enough, and it need's the V'Ger style sound effect when a ship disappears )


    all in all

    cool but not challenging enough

    got hit by that too but my ship survived got to say it hurt though. and i agree with ya i went in with 3 other people and creamed everything in sight so i agree with cryptic in lowering the ships down to 5.

    Oh for gods sake, its an MMO. The only way they can fix things is if they take the servers down. You want bad? Try Eve, or EQ2... Eve has 24 hour downtimes minimum. And the very first time I tried EQ2, the servers were down for a whole week. I lost 1/4 of my free time due to that.

    I think restricting the encounters to 5 people is a really BAD IDEA. Did you even try this with Lts, or LCs? The amount of fail-groups is going to sky-rocket.

    I pray to God that Crpytic doesn't restrict the instances to 5 people...those were virtually impossible...

    A Borg FLEET is invading our space....and only 5 ships come...?

    Hell look at Star Trek: First Contact. Only one Borg Cube at Earth and about 10 ships or so went ot fight it...10 fed for 1 borg cube....so now that we have a fleet of borg ships lead by a huge command ship, we were only supposed to have 5...?

    I'd say let the 10+ continue, but give the command ships a tad more health. :rolleyes:
