This game is unplayable for me

Not sure what else to look at. The last few days I get maybe 5KB from cryptic when pulling down any data loading into a zone. The rubber-banding is insane. Server not responding messages everywhere.

I live in eastern Ontario, Canada.. speedtests from my ISP run at 33MB download at 2MB upload while this is happening so this doesn't appear to be on my end. Still I've rebooted, flushed dns, rebooted the router etc etc. I've also tried changing the proxy on the launcher to none, US, EU, all with the same results.

Is it just me? Is cryptic having an issue with bandwidth?

meh, i am in eastern ontario, in the middle of knowhere, looking at my lake and playing sto on an old laptop tethering to my iphone.

    Speeds are perfect.
I would like to point out though, eastern ontario was hit with a big storm so certain hubs may be out for cable internet like rogers.

The game is very twitchy when there's something wrong with network traffic. Try running

    tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com

at the command prompt. If you see long ping times or * at the beginning, it's your ISP's end. If it's at the end, it's Cryptic. If it's somewhere in the middle, then whoops to whoever owns those hops. :p

This is a longshot, but every once in a while, an online game will have a bizarre incompatibility with certain routers. Do you have another router of a different make and model that you can swap in?

This seams like the most plausible explanation. If the problem was on Cryptic's end or even their ISP we would all have these problems even if we lived next door to the server. Somewhere down the line your data likely isnt being routed properly and their may not be anything you or even your ISP (if its out of their area) can do but wait.

Thanks guys. I think there's been a problem somewhere between my ISP's main gateway and Cryptics.
The tracert and speed test I found in the cryptic TS forum were only showing 1 timed out connection between here and Cryptic. The speedtest showed 8KB a second on average which is of course terrible.
I don't trust tracert outputs really since a timeout can occur if ICMP is not enabled on that particular router.

Around 11PM last night I was in PVP and a few other people were complaining about the same thing. Lag, disconnects, it got really bad. Shortly after I lost all connectivity to Cryptic. When it came back, speeds were back to normal. I ran speedtest to cryptic and I was getting 500KB a second now. Not stellar, but certainly within acceptable playing parameters. The tracert still showed the same 1 timed out connection.

Hopefully whoever had the problem has resolved it...

if you are using a wireless router, I use to have this exact same problem what I did was re-route the ports that the game comes through to my PC in my room, which happens to be on the far side of the house.

I was having these problems, I just set my proxy to None and disabled the on demand patching... seems to work fine now.

I was in the same PVP match as Gefell and I seen some of these things that he is referring to. I play on a dedicated T1 line and was the only 1 on it so all of the speed of the T1 was going to me.

It seemed to me that the servers were not quite keeping up with what was going on in the matches. And, it seemed the more people we had in the matches, the less performance we got out of it.

The main problems I had was powers not firing or it took several different clicks/keybind stokes to get something to work.

It might help if we had the programed delays taken completly out of the game at this point in time. It's hard to tell at times, if the delays are pre-programed, the ISP is messing up, or the servers are just not keeping up with gameplay. Most of the time this is more-so in PVP matches than PVE and then the more people that are in them, the more the problem becomes prevelant.
