Cryptic's idea of "temporarily disabled" is starting to look undistinguishable from "permanently disabled". I have to admit that I missed Foundry even beeing available. May I ask how long it happened to work?

They turned it on for 5 minute but it broke again.

Foundry is turning into the enterprise - A of Final Frontier. :P Kidding devs.. ;-)

About a week after the last time they brought it up. It was an issue QA stated they know and posted about but QA thopught it onlty happened to some ground maps in the Foundry if you hit 'Return to Editor' after doing a ground map prieview mode. Unfortunately after the patch went Live, they discoivered it affected more than just the editor (although to be fair, it didn't affect as many missions nor was it as catastrophic a bug as the one that caused a 4 week Foundry shutdown and mission database rollback.

It was a good full week of Foundry functionallity.

Just in case no one is aware, the front page "Read More" link on the maintenance announcement banner and the server status text in the nav bar both link to the Atari support page, which displays a list of FAQs and provides no information about the actual outage in progress.

If the intention is to have these tools link somewhere that contains additional information about the outage, I'd suggest creating a status page on the support website that can be updated by the support team using an automated tool. Alternatively, change those links to point to this forum instead.

Its worth noting that they never announced it. This is just my speculation but I think the devs just weren't confident enough in its state to get lots of people back in it. I know it still had a bug that minimized STO anytime I would preview a map.

the foundry is (almost) the only thing that keeps me interested in the game.
STFs have become boring and there are (were) lot of foundry missions that blow away most cryptic ones.
I really hope they commit the neccessary resources to get it back up asahp

It was funny, when it popped on they had all the original bugs. Many of the original holodeck launch bugs resurfaced. It was only a matter of time before they brought it back down.

The content drought that was supposed to be 3-4 months is now what 7? Now the foundry is constantly broken.

...My interest in this game is seriously waning and that's sad. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

DStahl said they had a new build ready to go late Friday - they just needed the QA team to put it through its paces (to make sure it does what they intend and doesn't make things worse); and that it would prbably be ready to go Tuesday.

I know a lot of folks (myself included) thought this Emergency Maintainenece might be to push that build, but oit appears it was not.

The EM was probably to fix something that was negatively affecting their server (or even copuld be related to their 'cutover' to Refect World behind the scenes (IE they thought everything was working in conjusction with whatever systems/VPN setup they need toi be on for PWI - and they found something wasn't configured, or working right.) In oother words it was a real/needed emergency fix to maintain their server/system integrity. (It happens with MMOs - and after the first 6 months, hasn't happened all that much with the STO server farm.)

Whenever we change messaging, some things run automatically.
Such as this: The launcher announcement that the Foundry is brought down automatically starts this thread. It's part of the system so that it can't be forgotten by us.

This statement assumes that we have any patience left. That is a big assumption.

Do we know when it will be back-up and running? I ask because I am on vacation this week and wanted to play some foundry.

Also where is a good place to find summaries of foundry missions?

*Go host your element (banner) at a site like imageshack.us. get the html address to that picture. They will provide it after you host it.

*Goto the top of THIS forum (STO/Cryptic) and hit “my account”
Select “edit signature” (should be the first choice on your left nav bar, the vertical nav bar not upper horizontal one)

*You can either paste the address you got from the hosting site (where your picture is), highlight it, then in the post edit options (right above the text area)hit the little yellow button that has a mountain and moon graphic on it
or just edit it manually type in “your hosting address here example is

*“” stole it from a post here because I am to lazy to open an imageshack account , I have several web sites I own that I use to host it… is another option, though, if you are having issues with writing html and hosting I am assuming you don’t own a hosting service.

Good luck

Unfortunately it's still down, but another good place to find missions available and summaries
is http://starbaseugc.com/ . You can find a lot of good missions,
summaries, and links to alot of UGC content as well as great tutorials should you decide to give the
authoring a go as well when it comes back up. Good Luck.
