This is by far the most poorly designed mission i've ever seen in mmo history. Completely uncompletable if you take more then a minute on the first gate. I haven't had that problem a lot, It is a bug that pops up every now and then. Plus you have to watch your debuffs they have one that can lower your shields over time. Plus you can do the space sequence if you have target assist down pat, have the right plan for the gates, and fly darn well.

Dont try to lead a raid reading a writeup somewhere. Having someone tell you how its done and never having done it yourself, = fail. Knowing the bugs, both space and ground, in any of these makes it easier. Knowing when to bail and restart it saves alot of wasted time . If your group lead doesnt know these things and relate them to the group, he/she/it shouldnt be leading. *see wasting time*
KA easy mode, 3 escorts, 1 cruiser 1 sci ship. If its a pug, make sure they are actually spec'd for the ship they are flying. Too many times ive seen people swap from sci to cruiser. No way are they spec'd right at all. Lose them and find people with a clue. Get the right setup. Ground is nice to have 2 tacs and 1 eng 1 healer sci, last one doesnt matter.....
The only "trick" is getting your dps on one gate to drop it asap. If 3 escorts cant drop it on 3rd try, your escort pilots need more practice.
If all these VA's would stop going on ra, i would lead more pugs. Running any stf on RA, when all va's tells me one thing. noone in the group cares to ever do them again, and only wants thier shiney so they can go solo some more........ in an MMO.... hmmmmm

I did it last night, first time. Had a great team with me though... and it did take over 4hrs... but still.

Really? IMO, KA is one of the better STF's. Not sure if we are talking about the same mission, though. The spawns only occur every 3 minutes (not 20 sec), and the cubes only spawn after 1 gate is destroyed. Probes don't have tractor beams. If you are getting something other than this, it's probably bugged (or you are seriously exaggerating). And ever heard of polarize hull or attack pattern omega? Works real well to get you out of a tractor.
Actually found the revamped KA far easier than the original version... be glad you didn't run that one, both gates sending probes out at once... it was lots of fun :rolleyes:
All you need is a halfway decent group, and you'll be fine

If you're having trouble, just get a couple fo escorts on your team that are worth a damn. They make short work of probes and make them go boom while their still huddled together; causing massive damage to the rest.

There is info in all the all threads on KA about the bugs. In one i listed almost all of them we ran into.
As for STF being easy, they are, once you know how to run them. Pugging doesnt get it done unless they are vets to all the fun stuff (Bugs). By vets i mean 20+ runs. Not I did this one before once on my Eng. heh
To explain all the possible bugs and tactics, be on voice chat in some form. We use TS3, some use vent. There is NO reason not to have them installed. It makes life easier as i wont type instructions myself. They dont need a mic, just able to listen.
I do hate to say this, but alot of people in game do suck at grouping. They dont know how to play thier class, cant fly an escort as a tac, always hit need on TRIBBLE loots, and many more items. This is due to them not wanting to group at all on the way up. Refuse to join a VIABLE fleet, or only want a fleet for #1, thier own bank space, 2 their own cool tag, 3 to avoid the crappy fleets just spamming invites to those not tagged. Im not saying all do, since we take a certain few people that are non fleeted. But they do know what they are doing, and do it well.
In thier present form as of this time, they are all doable. I ran them all twice or more the past 3 days. sometimes bugs would show sometimes not.
Just finishes Ka with a PUG, all newbies on KA. We did it with 4 people, all TACs, Toke about 2 hours in total. And for a change it was not bugged for us.
Gate was blown up in 13 seconds though we might have been lucky with a critcal from the tactical cube though carefully laid abilities meant the gate sustained even more damage.
STF's can be unpredictable especially with the occassional bug that pops up like scaled up eltie borg or the gate's dropping a bit too soon or feeling they barely drop at all. It's a question of how good your team is to overcome them or at the very least do as someone said, reform and try again. I really don't see a problem with the STFs but they keep getting nerfed though fingers crossed the new elite remastered STF's will give me a new challenge because I'm running out of stuff to do .

You are completely WRONG ... even with a team with moderate DPS, you can kill the first gate and all probes and spheres with good organization and ship skills, like gravity well, scramble sensors, etc.

I bet you're exaggerating for effect. No cubes come with the first spawn, and the spawns appear every 3 minutes.
Get one of your teammates to confirm such excessive spawning happened. In fact, name all your teammates. Oh, you can't remember them? Perhaps you were just in a bad and poorly organized PUG.
Don't blame Cryptic for your poor choice of teammates.

OP, you're yet another one of those folks who claim in the STO forums that "the STFs are impossible", "the STFs are too hard", "the STFs are too long".
It's because of players like YOU that Gozer is emasculating all the Borg STFs to be easy, under 30 minutes, and completable by even poor players like YOU.
The STFs were indeed a challenge in the past, but as I commented to teammates as we practically walked throught the current version of The Cure, it's sad, very very sad that the STFs are now, in fact, TOO EASY

The whole torpedo doing massive damage, its true. It must be a bug
I have many times hit Engine Battery and evasive maneuvers to move away from combat to let the Borg Shield debuff run out and just as I hit the end of the speed buff and my ship is around 80-85% my ship blows up, not every time, but once in a while it does happen
I never saw what hit me, but the combat log said it was a torpedo. I know it was over 40,000 damage
I wholeheartedly agree and so I hope the elite remasterd mode of STF's give us a challenge. By all means make an STF mode so easy that it is impossible to lose but give them loot that is deserving of it and give the that can take on a much more challenging mode better loot.
I am seriously not a fan of this mission at all, im a FED VA and have been playing for a while and i have yet to get past the space level of KA, to all the people who have, congrats!, you clearly managed to find a great team to play with, but having said that, finding a team that is good is a challenge in itself and players of that level are few and far between, iv been in gangs that fall apart on a regular basis and finding enough people with specific ship types such as 3 escorts, 1 cruiser 1 sci ship, is just a lil to specific and sometimes
impossible depending where in the world you are and what timezone you play, if these ships are what is needed to complete this mission then surely the mission should state this when accepting it, i really do not like how this mission has been constructed and find it one of the most off putting frustraiting missions iv ever had the misfortune of playing.
Well last night I did 2 KA's back to back, one pug and one fleet. I need to do KA tonight to complete my 7th borg set on my 3 fed characters (originally discarded spare sets but now dumping them on my alt ships) so if my fleetmates aren't up for doing KA I'll see about looking you up and get you through KA. Should take 90-120mins as a conservative pug estimate.
Sometimes in order to have a great team you need to be a great team member or even leader. I'm not saying you aren't but if the rest of the team is lacking what it takes to win then you need to try and do something about it and step up to the plate. Use common sense like spreading team dps/heals between both gates, somenoe keeping time so you're ready for when the gates drop, having a balanced team. In time you'll get experience to lead a fully newbie pug group and you'll wonder how you ever thought this was hard. All STF's have been nerfed to death now and have been at their easiest since launch. Maybe you just have bad luck with pugs so try the Accolades channel which has a lot of experienced players and see if they;ll join you.

Not every member of a team needs to be elite but all have to listen. The current version of KA does not require escorts to do it. Escorts make it easier yes but as long as people focus fire even 5 cruisers have sufficient dps to get it done.

Some of that yes bad planning on his part, but I have seen cubes in KA do 50K with a torpedo but again your shields have to be down. All it really takes is having the appropriate BO abilities, ship, eqiupment, and of course some luck because these things are sometimes bugged. So reporting them is good on us as a player base. STFs are still challenging to groups filled with people who haven't done them yet. My suggestion to you is to probably find a group of noobs and actually helping them telling them how to do it. It takes patience. Cutting them down like I see here with **** poor debating ability is something that tells me that you yourself are a whiner. So anyway if you want a challenge go do PvP or go and take these people through these STFs.
I think it is good that people are actually informing cryptic and I enjoy cryptic doing its job. So stop whining and change your usual routine in the way you play the STFs and impart that knowledge to others maybe it will help other people instead of insulting them.

in the first round of shield-drop after the tac cube explodes, spheres/probes will spawn on both gates. in the next round only the gate you fire on spawns borg.

Sounds like your group experienced a bug. There is usually plenty of people online that have KA experience and can tell you what to do if you experience a bug. Ever try using the zone chat or one of the STF channels (Fed STF or KDF STF)?
There are many issues with KA. Some have been fixed (for example I've not had ships reset directly by the temporal portal in a while. Or had dead probes drift into the portal and count)
Last time I did KA, Only one gate opened at a time, after the first spawn. This is good. I'm under the impression Gozer thinks this is bad. It's not. Until they expand the team count to 10, having to split people between two gates is a poor design decision for STO due to the lack of ability to form large teams for the Raidisodes. Multiple simultaneous objectives are good for large teams, but 5 mans are not large enough to justify an objective of this magnitude with such a small fail quota. The inclusion of objectives like this to make a mission challenging are good, but only if the game supports it.
