I've done that 4 times already and it dosen't do anything.. And it has to be because the patch was tested on Tribble and when i''d launch tribble the exact same thing would happen. And now that the patch has come to holodeck its doing it now.... So it has to be that. And holodeck was working fine before i patched it.
likey the a hogg file on tribble got corrupted. the launcher will sometimes use the tribble hogg files to patch the live side if the tribble version is the currrent file to be downloaded (this way the launcher will not download a file if it is already on the PC it will just copy it) to save time.
if the error, crash, shutdown logs in the cryptic studios folder or the /live/logs/gameclient folder does not indicate a specific hogg file . you may have to delete the hoggs on both the tribble anmd live side and have the launcher download a new set.
if you are using teamviewer or xfire besure they are shutdown S4 changes have caused problems with those programs running.
(teamviewer always cause crashes on the game but xfire started with S4)
also look in the shutdown, error, and crash logs in the cryptic studios older and in the /live/logs/gameclient folder to see if there any error messages at the time of the crashes. (newest entries are at end of log dated by yymmdd )
Ok I was confused, by that...... I only found the crash and shut down folders.... Im going to show you the first thing that shows up and the last thing that shows up in the file. Which by the way opened in Notepad... I hope thats what it should be opened with
Crash:
First, 101023 14:10:46 41 Client[0]: GSM_Quit(). Reason: emEditorMain or utilitiesLibShouldQuit()
Last, 110728 04:44:32 89 Client[0]: GSM_Quit(). Reason: emEditorMain or utilitiesLibShouldQuit()
Shutdown:
First, 101023 14:10:46 42 Client[0]: GSM_Quit(). Reason: emEditorMain or utilitiesLibShouldQuit()
Last, 110728 04:44:32 90 Client[0]: GSM_Quit(). Reason: emEditorMain or utilitiesLibShouldQuit()
And everything is the same... So I don't know what that means... Please help me I want to play the game
Also when the game crashed I tried to launch star trek again while the crashed star trek was still running and I got this error, I dont know if it means anything or not....

This doesn't sound like a game issue, but either a Windows/DirectX issue or a graphics card driver issue.

Can you please help me!! It's making me really mad that I can't play and Star Trek has a crappy support system that never answers you, so no one is answering my support ticket!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad:
i had the same problem and i fixed it by closing xfire. apparently there is a problem with xfire and windows 7 right now. If you have xfire try closing it and then trying it.. worked for me anyways gl
I don't know what xfire is haha, I'm guessing its your secruity? But I have vista though
Amd's Crossfire platform allows you to run Radeon video cards bridged together like NVidia's SLI mode. If you have multiple cards running crossfire mode, you need to disable one of the cards while playing STO.
Oh no, I'm only running one card I did hear that they changed the graphics in the game. So i was wondering if maybe my video card cant handle the new graphics? I don't know it was just a thought.

Post a DXDiag report from your system and that way we can see your hardware setup and installed driver version.
I appreciate those of you trying to help those of us w/ issues but please remember some of us are not comp experts-we just want to click on the game and play and when we cant and dont see any help coming from the people we bought the game from its VERY fustrating. I have not been able to play for 8 days now-I senrt a support ticket-tried the solution they sent-it didnt work-edited the ticket-got the same response word for word back-edited tickets 2 more times and am still waiting for a reply but when i t came time to charge my c/card there is never a problem - I am a customer of thiers regardless if I paid the lifetime fee or just the $15 a month and its been 8 days I cant play-theres no excuse for that so yes I am very fustrated-dc
I'm experiencing a launching issue as well, where the gameclient crashes on the loading screen during the star trek icon. I tried force verifying and booting up in safe mode and it still crashes. I have the latest drivers for my video card (ATI 4870 X2). This has all happened after the not-so-successful Season 4 patch.
I tired to boot up in safemode with the "-console" command in the advanced command line in the launch options window and saw that the launch code had this error:
Initializing PhysX... PhysX error 206, thread 5340: PhysXDevice.dll not foun
d (f:\scmvista\experimental\PhysX_2.8.1_GPU\novodex\SDKs\Core\Device\RegistryHar
dwareSelection.cpp:65).
PhysX error 206, thread 5340: PhysXDevice.dll not found (f:\scmvista\experimenta
l\PhysX_2.8.1_GPU\novodex\SDKs\Core\Device\RegistryHardwareSelection.cpp:65).
So it looks like the launcher is trying to find the PhysXDevice.dll on the f: drive, which is my DVD drive.... so that's pretty much a fail. I know that STO utilizes PhysX for some effects, but I never had this problem before. I tried deleting the physX dll files in the live folder (and having the launcher re-download them) to no avail. Searched the forums and google on this, saw some other people where having this problem, but no solution was apparent.
Even though I have an ATI card, I do have an Nvidia mobo, so I'm wondering if that is now a problem with the Season 4: Missfire patch (though it was NEVER a problem before). Any help would be much appreciated here as Cryptic Support is non-existent. CRYPPPPPPPTTTIIIIIIICCCCC!!!!!
Hey guys, they fixed my problem!! The solution they wanted me to try are...................... 1. Make sure your video card drivers are up to date, by going to the manufacturers website and finding your product. 2. Run your launcher as an Administrator by going to (for Steam players) Program Files/Steam/common/Star trek online. And the app should be on the bottom, so right click on it and Run as an Administrator. (Sorry I don't know where to go if you are not running it through Steam). 3. Run a DxDiagonics on your computer, by (Vista/Win7) Typing Run in the search box in the start menu and typing DxDiag, and then it will automatically run a diagonics, and then click save all information to your desktop, (XP) Click run and type in DxDiag, the rest is the same. But for this you do have to submit a support ticket with the contents of the file that the Diagnostics give you. And they will tell you if something is wrong. 4. Before typing in your Username and Password in the launcher click options and check the Safe Launch button and see if it works. 5. Make sure you aren't running any third party applications like XFire, STO does not support them.
That is the only information that they gave me, If none of that helps, then you will just have to wait for your Support ticket to be answered, they did pretty good on mine, I got 2-3 responses a day, so hopefully you will have the same luck I did!!!! Hope this helps.

I don't think your issue has anything to do with what was going on in Holodeck yesterday.
Run a force verify of your game. It sounds like something got corrupted.

the test server be /playtest/piggs

It depends. How old is your video card?
