I dont ... We need ships at mid levels, not at T5

Gonna stick my foot in it and say this .... Actually, it is the KDF that needs ships at mid levels.

Sillyness. Cry;ptic should charge us individually for the ship at a T3 and T5 level. That way everyone wins.

    EXACTLY!!!!!

I happen to agree. I'd rather this be a T3-T4 ship rather than VA (although if it is T5 I'd probably buy it in a heartbeat, I like the look of the Nova and love the streamlines on the Rhode Island.) Because in Equinox it was AT LEAST a T3 ship and at most T4. As I said before, the Nova is capable of challenging the Intrepid since Equinox did challenge Voyager and she had a skeleton crew and heavy internal damage already. I do believe it deserves to be T4.

I don't think this ship "deserves" to be a tier 5. But I wouldn't be apposed to a tier 5 retrofit. It fits nicely in the tier 3 spot. a grade above it's variants. I like it. Thanks cryptic

If the Delay means we get a Tier 5 Version of Rhode Island I will gladly wait the extra week.

i wouldnt mind a T5 either but considering previous t5 ships have been on tribble for at least a couple of weeks testing prior to being released im doubtful that this is the reason for the delay.

I'm certain the delay has nothing to do with a T5 version - and if it were a new T5 ship it would go to Tribble for testing before it was released to the C-Store. It's probably just some tech issues that need to be worked out: it was built for code version 4.0113 and the code-base of the game right now is version 4.0111. :)

Site calendar on page 1 of the STO website. Everything was pushed back a week and the Borg have been added after the KDF academy uniforms

I was a little concerned at the original date as they should have had the Rhode Island up on tribble by now, even if its only to test the new console.

With 44 pages I'm not sure if this was mentioned already but the Nova was orginally a concept for the Defiant.

This is another reason for it to be Science's answer to the escort class. Especially (and yes I stated this before in this very thread) due to the stats it has ingame (hull, turnrate, inertia). A T-5 ship with a LTCdr Tac slot it as a Sci Vessel with the console they suggest would finally give Science Pilots a chance in PVP/PVE to do more than just support. Especially if they give us access to Dual Cannons (not dual heavy). Not like they will do this. But one can dream, right?

So uh, Cryptic, what's up? What's going on with the new Nova... maybe we should get together and share coffee over what's going on?

    Based on what was said on this week's episode of STOked, the Rhode Island is a T2 variant (ship costume) of the Nova. It also comes with a console that will work in any science vessel, which;

    1. Cloaks your ship.
    2. Creates a holographic decoy of your ship.
    3. Transfers all enemies targeting you to the decoy.

Console sounds fun, but it depends on the way the cloak works. Depends on how much it is in the C-store.

Guess we might as well kiss balance goodbye, since it looks like the Devs have.

I think up until specifics on the forums are released it is all up in the air.

They better be very careful with that special ability..... it could be quite unbalancing if it isn't done carefully.

Oh yay now we have the PVP people in to destroy what otherwise would have been a good ship.

It's a lower tier ship, we don't care about that. What we do care about is the console which could very easily unbalance PvP when put on higher tier ships. One of these in an intrepid refit could very easily be overboard in the survivability department.

It was going to be a lower tier ship now they delayed it maybe they listened to those of us who have been asking for it at tier 5 for the past 40+ pages. As for the console I could care less. I just want my Rhode Island at tier 5

well it got pushed back, that is at least somewhat promising for a tier 5 version.

I don't give a flying hoot about what *you* want. I want a balanced game. A balanced game is better for you in the long run as well, regardless of how much disdain you have for balance and the PvPers who advocate for it.

That was never officially in the canon. That's just behind the scenes concept art notes.

Do you realy think there gonna worry about game balance when klingons is only 18% of the game players, I think not, and the main problem is alot of klingon players think the game isnt balanced if there not winning most all the pvp matches, I play boath sides and if they where realy worried abotu balanced they make all the ships the same and just change the skin .

The problem with this game (and most games I've played) is that PvP and PvE are not kept separate in the coding. It should be a simple thing to "turn off' a console like this for PvP and leave it for PvE. However, Cryptic once again does not learn from past mistakes as they should have with CoH. PvP "balance issues" should NEVER have an impact on the PvE game. In this game, as it is in most games, the PvP crowd is a minority. That's not to say I don't care about your needs or issues - I believe they should be addressed. However, I should never have to have your issues affect my PvE game. That PvP concerns affect PvE play is just bad game design.
