Ok all; I have a problem that apparently likes to be very persistent. I installed Star Trek Online on my desktop PC upstairs just fine. It updated, and it plays wonderfully. However I just bought a gaming laptop and I'm trying to play Star Trek Online on it as well. I installed the game but when I try to load it all it does is bring up a little box that says...
"Trying to update the launcher. Please be patient. Tried connecting ___ times."
... currently that tried connecting it at 108 times because I let it run all night last night trying to see if the damn thing would connect.
So I tried the obvious steps any online gamer would take to try and fix connection issues...
I tried shutting down my ZoneAlarm firewall as well as making sure the Windows Firewall didn't kick back on after I shut down ZoneAlarm.
Nothing...
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the CD Installation source.
Nothing...
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the downloaded torrent source. (From Star Trek's website, don't jump down my throat.)
Nothing...
I tried connecting to a wired connection
Nothing...
I tried, with that wired connection, bypassing my router completely and connecting straight to the internet.
Nothing...
With all the above steps active (minus the uninstalls') I started the computer in Safe Mode w/ Networking and tried connecting.
Still fu**ing nothing...
I've researched this online, and found two possible solutions. One tells me to download and run a 'ShowLauncherWindows.exe' application & run it while it's doing it update thing.
I did and that did absolutely nothing.
Another says to download and run a 'nettest.exe' application. I did, and the thing keeps timing out and doesn't give me any results...
"contacting nettest server..timed out
hit return to exit"
I play other online games such as Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source & Fallout: New Vegas online (on this laptop) and they play just fine.
Taking in all the previous failures to count, I've come to the conclusion that either God just doesn't want me to play this game, or more likely something in my computer is blocking the ports that Star Trek: Online wants to use.
The problem is, I've shut down every program and firewall I've had and it still wouldn't connect. I'm just flabbergasted at this whole situation. It couldn't be a problem with my network; could it, because my PC upstairs is connected to the same router that my laptop is and the desktop plays Star Trek Online just fine.
I have no clue what could be blocking the ports? I spent good money on this game, and it looks really fun but I'll be damned if I can access it.
Please tell me somebody has an idea...
Here's a link to my dxdiag if anybody wants it.
The forums wouldn't let me copy and paste it here because of too many characters.

2) have you got the port range 7000-7500 tcp open on your entire network and port forwarding setup to your gaming pc?
I don't know about the ports. How would I go about checking that, and opening them up if needed?
Already tried restarting the router as well.
Ahhhh, but have you rebooted your modem?
