port 443 important to the game?

I have been using AceVPN to connect to STO and it has worked great until two days ago. Now I get disconnected after about 15 minutes. TCP port 443 is the default port used by AceVPN. Some posts in the forum suggest that STO uses port 443. I can change the port AceVPN uses (to 80) for example, if using port 443 would cause problems.

Does the game use UDP ports? I suspect it does and this is why I have to use AceVPN. The game will not work without the VPN tunnel. The university does not expressly forbid games on the network so long as gaming consoles are not used but many ports are blocked.

the game uses port 80 for the http traffic like for the info page in the launcher. also uses 80 for when the launcher is set to us a proxy (more game traffic routed over port 80)
it does not use 443. in the nettest 443 is used, as with port 80, as a reference as most ISP do not filter traffic on those two ports.

the game does not use any upd it is all tcp port 7000-7500

and it does use the full range of ports just look at the clientservercomm log in the /live/logs/gamecleint folder you will see it changing to different ports .

I played STO at a cafe this morning and had reconfigured AceVPN to use port 80 instead of 443. I played for one half hour without any problems. I will try it at the network where I was having difficulty, on Monday. If I get disconnected again as I did two days this past week when I used port 443
, I will send AceVPN my logs in case there is something I can do to improve the situation.

In my case, I know that the problem is unrelated to STO servers, it's something on my end.
