Does anyone know if the servers are having problems, it keeps loogging me and my fleet mates out, or the server will just stop responding????? Anyone else having this problem?

Been ongoing for a while, some say it statrted a week anf half ago, some say this week.

Me---just happened today at 2:00 am EST. Sounds like a shock wave going out, but in slow motion.

I logged out of my main character at Star Fleet Academy, and logged into one on DS9 and the game was having issues there too.

Yeah, I think the Servers are crashing. I was having trouble trying to log in right now. I got in but also got several Server Not Responding messages.

Currently having login/disconnect problems. Either getting bounced out to login or when loggin in I go to the maps and then time out. All other network traffic is fine.

    Also getting "chat is offline"

Maybe it has to do with the Cryptic servers in general and not just STO's?

    Very odd.

I just came off a 45 minute session (1830-1915 Pacific). Nary a hitch for me.

I wonder if a particular ISP is having problems...

it's because here are too many people in the game that's crashing the Servers

Posted elsewhere. This might help in diagnosing the issue:
Pro-Tips on Diagnosing Lag and Rubberbanding

    Background:
For those unfamiliar with latency (or lag), this is how quickly your computer transfers files to a distant end. In our case, we're looking at how your computer interacts with Cryptic's servers. Most of the test information comes from STO's Technical Support FAQ.

Latency is measured in milliseconds (ms). This is directly measuring how long it takes to send/receive data. You want any tests below to have lower values. Think of it like waiting in line at the bank; you don't want to be there all day.

Bandwidth is measured in kilobites per second (KB/sec). You want these values to be high. Think of this as how much stuff you can mail at once.

Your computer is connected through many other computers to reach Cryptic's servers. Think of it like the Postal Service. Packets of information (just like mail) need to pass through several places (like your local and regional sorting centers). Sometimes a problem can be with a user, sometimes it can be with Cryptic. Before either party blames each other, sometimes the problem is one of these connections between Cryptic's Servers and you.
    Test Summary:
We'll run two tests. The first is a called tracert and measures how quickly various connections between Cryptic and you respond. The second is called nettest and gauges how much data can be passed at once on various ports.

    Test 1: tracert
    • For Windows 7, hit the start button
    • Where it says Search All Files and Programs, type CMD and press ENTER
    • The first result should be cmd.exe
    • Right-click on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
    • A black, command-prompt window should appear
    • From here type the following command:
    • tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com
    Good Results:
    • Values lower than 180 are ideal for playing MMOs (and anything under 100 is outstanding). Higher values usually cause lag and rubber-banding in-game. Report any values above 180ms. Right-click in the Command Prompt Window and select all. Save as a text file (txt).
    .

    Test 2: nettest
You'll see several columns. The ones we're focusing on have KB/sec to the right of a number value.

    Good results:
    • Column 1: ~300-500 KB/sec
    • Column 2: ~20kb/sec
    • Column 3: ~300- 500kb/sec

Report the Port Number and which columns are below the average ranges. You will need to save a screenshot of this as right-clicking to save all is disabled. Hit PRT SCR on your keyboard. This should copy an image of your desktop as you see it, much like copying/pasting test. Load an image editor like Microsoft paint and paste the image data. Save as a jpeg and upload to a site of your choosing.
    Last Words:
When posting a problem, be sure to include the tracert text file and also link to the image of the nettest results.

Having issues myself, and it seems a lot of my friends are having connectivity issues as well. Getting sporadic packet loss after sending ping requests to patchserver.crypticstudios.com, but opening the patcher and logging in the problems are much, much worse.

And although I have no computer training, nor any computer technical skills, or any genuine networking knowledge whatsoever, I still feel inclined to diagnose the problem as if I were an expert on the subject.

It's the Iconians. The quickest way to bring the Alpha Quadrant to its knees is by preventing Starfleet and KDF captains from logging on and playing, and thus stopping them.

Can't even get to atari.com to submit a ticket as the server keeps resetting the connection.

All other sites and games are perfectly fine.

    12 18 ms * 32 ms 208.95.185.41

really nothing to write home about except the final stop, and even that one isn't that bad.
I should be having pretty good traffic, but just Cryptic/Atari related stuff is bad. Even the forums are hard to use as they keep timing out.

Hi friends! Guess whos back??? Me! I noticed the server issues a earlier in the week when I logged in. Multiple characters in different areas experienced this. I thought it might have to do with the new patching on the fly thing, but I also heard champs was having issues too. I hope cryptic isnt getting eaten by zombies or the samsquatch.........oh well im gonna keep trying....no work tomorrow.

Its good to be back even though I cant really log in. Hope to see you all out there soon!

problem started to clear up around 11:50 or so EST.
at 0 AM I was able to connect and play normally, atari page started to come back and forums were working better

    Notes on time:
First instance I noticed was maybe around 1830 or so as I was trying to team with a friend and got disconnected and had trouble with the relogin. I left for a bit and relogged in around 2000 and that's when the trouble really started.

Interesting that all the tracert I have looked at - posted during the trouble - have all ended with Cogent servers at the Cryptic end, mine included. Since then it has been cleared up, and now (instead of Cogent as is usual) the network is savvis.net at Cryptic's end. Looks like some kind of trouble with the Cogent services to me.

That's funny I logged on this morning and everything is running perfectly normal again in the game. Thanks for showing me the Tracernet, I'll use that next time I get a lot of lag.

Nettest question - If the value are too high, how do you go about correcting this to try and lower them?
