Why Pay For Lag

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
This is not a i QUIT thread I like this game very much while what game is there but back to the topic I get lag that last 2-3 mins and this happens every 10-15 min of playing. Afther having this prom afther S4 I been talking to other players with the same prom. All my cpu specs are above even the recommended for this gam never had a problem until S4.

So my question is anything being done about the problem I can play like this and I think it is fair to say how long can this go on for?

Any devs?

any news?

PLease if you are not having this prom dont post if you are let them know here.

Please, if you are experiencing lag issues and similar, please always provide detailed information:

Without detailed information we cannot ever assist you.
    • *Always* run a tracert. Find out which hops you are taking and where the lag starts.
    • *Always* use the nettest tool to check if you are able to connect properly.
    • *Always* add from where you are playing (I don't need your address, but we do need to know where in the world you are and what your internet service provider is)
Tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com to check your routing.
You can run tracerts from a windows prompt or through online tools; select that which works best for you.
    Nettest:
    • Go to files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
    • Download this file and run it
    • A command prompt should appear running the test automatically
    • Do alt prtscn(be sure the nettest is the active window) to Copy and paste the results in paint and save as jpeg and attach it in a post in this forum else
    • write down the columns
Good results have column 1 and 3 with values around 300- 500kb/sec, column 2 with 20kb/sec

    2.California.
    3.Column 1-3 on all ports above 500kb column 2 all above 25
4.I am running a cable modem direct connect
5.Never had this lag until S4 been playing sense open beta.

Go to options in you're game launcher & disable patching on-demand it's a nice feature if new content go's live, but unless you're fully patched-up it lags like hell. o & you might want to turn proxy to "none".

Agreed, I had major issues with lag on various levels, which was odd since it didn't occur last time I played....I disabled the patching in the launcher options, and that fixed it. Took a bit to download, but I'm no longer "rubberbanding" consistently, or seeing long loading.

I have been experiencing EPIC lag spikes, Rubberbanding and Delayed instancing since season 4 launch. But tonight 07/21, has been the worst yet. Completely Unplayable, not exaggerating or nerd raging, I just literally cant play the game.
I load into a zone only to have to wait thru 12 to 15 seconds of lag to become active. In some cases I get 10 secs of lag before getting another 20 seconds of SNR, the finally DC'd. I've never had connection issues before, I've had the same internet setup (ip/speed/router/cpu/) since launch. But now, its very much a problem. I've been hearing rumors that a likely cause is the VoIP chat system integration, any credence to those rumors?
Anywho, in the hope that something is being done here is my info. NetTest took FOREVER. Over 8 mins!!! I'm starting to not appreciate the "I've never heard of this" or "Net Guys says its fine" responses, I have many freinds with these issues, as I"m writing this my Chat logs both fleet and Zone are full of complaints, and I"d like to know what if anything is being done/can be done to resolve these issues, since I've never experienced them before until season 4. Please Advise.

Its also unfortunate that when you're DC'd from a pvp match, you're auto Kicked from the match as well when you get back in. Disable auto-deteaming please.

I'm getting STO serverside lag that it takes a minute after zoning for the UI to load up, this started happening about 5PM PST. And still is doing it.

And my Internet provider said my DSL is running normally, which the internet speed tests do confirm.

So trust the STO servers will soon be fixed.

I am having this same issue. Just started for me when I logged in today, and i've NEVER had connection issues before to STO.. I'm on the highest tier cox cable connection, and I'm connected to our datacenter all day long without issues / lag, etc.

I've started up our traceroute tool and will gather some data for an hour or so... Looks like no packet loss so far, but i'm seeing some HIGH ping response times to connections at cogentoco.com..

once I enter a system (k-7 for example) - it shows where my ship should be, then after about 20 seconds or so it shows the warp-in sequence and then it shifts back to the UI again and shows my ship.. Not sure if this is a lag issue or something with the latest patch.. I noticed this issue when I tested tribble today before the new patch went live as well..

Yeah, I used the tracer command too and got like a 212ms ping from the same place, which goes along with the others reported in the other thread. So guess that's where the problem lies.

Your upload bandwidth to the game server is too low. Good nettest results have column 1 and 3 with values between 300- 500kb/sec, column 2 with 20kb/sec . Values lower than this indicate some sort of network problem between your computer and the game servers. Problems can include port blocking, port filtering, trafic throttling, or ISP issues.

the VoIP system would really only cause it if everyone in the world that plays tries to talk at the exact same time. Right now all we can really do is wait for the lag to settle down or try to suffer through it. I would have to guess that all the subscribers connecting and patching, etc. at the same time is causing the lag. It SHOULD settle down over the next few days unless its something wrong with the hardware or software server side. Until something happens (lag stops or problems are found on the servers) we really just have to be patient.

Tell me something I don't know. I've looked at router settings, QoS settings, Ports and Tested my Internet thru speed tests AND called up the ISP to check my connection, So far I can't find anything that would indicate where the problem is, whether its me or cryptic. The Thing that gets me about the test and my lag issues is that I've played since launch and never experienced any serious lag, much less Random DC's and back to back 20 sec spikes and SNR's. But in the last week, its been a real issue. Will play tonight and see how it goes.

I"m Located in Central United States BTW if that makes any dif to the Tech guys.
