To the players having the issue - is "On Demand Patching" enabled or disabled in the STO Launcher options? If it's enabled, try disabling it; let the game patch up everything, and see if the issue stiff persists.
You can also see what disabling the in game Vivox voice chat does too.
Some players with the same issue you describe have reported that doing one or both of the above fixed the random disconnect issue.
I was experiencing this last night and I don't use Steam. I also have On Demand Patching disabled. I restarted my PC and it seemed to have fixed it. I wonder if somehow a recent game patch is causing memory leaks, hence the disconnects, since I know this is / was an ongoing issue with another game I play concurrently (Pirates of the Burning Sea).
yes im in europe it seems there is a general problem connecting to the server.
When I try to patch trough the patcher its slow, really slow. And I get extremly bad ingame rubberbanding, disconnects and server not responding
I also got kicked off a couple of times over the past week.
When me and my mates are on in the same place and instace it keeps flaging up one has log off,log on
two has loged off loged on over and over ,when we are still threr doing the missions togehter.
Also in europe both pathing disalbed and voice chat , all unnessary progams disalbed so the maine progam is sto .
Someone mentioned this was being caused by Steam, but I can't find anything that corroborates that. So, are you guys both using Steam?
No it's not Steam. It's the new code base that Cryptic upgraded CO and STO to. I experience the disconnects after zoning in both STO and CO. The disconnects started to occur after I patched to their new code base in both the test server and live server game clients in both games. It's something systemic inside of Cryptic Engine.
And it's not an Internet error either. The even happends after you zone into a new zone. But you can't do anything muc except move in very stange ways. You will see players and NPCs in the area around you, you can even chat. But 30 seconds after you zone in your will be disconnected from the game server. This exactly things happens to my when I play both Champions Online and Star Trek Online.
Please, if you are experiencing lag issues and similar, please always provide detailed information:
Without detailed information we cannot ever assist you. And detailed information is not "STO does not work but WoW works!". They are different server locations. You so not use the same pathways to get to server A that you use to get to server B.
*Always* run a tracert. Find out which hops you are taking and where the lag starts.
*Always* use the nettest tool to check if you are able to connect properly.
*Always* add from where you are playing (I don't need your address, but we do need to know where in the world you are and what your internet service provider is)
Tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com to check your routing.
You can run tracerts from a windows prompt or through online tools; select that which works best for you.
Nettest:
Go to files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download this file and run it
A command prompt should appear running the test automatically
Do alt prtscn(be sure the nettest is the active window) to Copy and paste the results in paint and save as jpeg and attach it in a post in this forum else
write down the columns
Good results have column 1 and 3 with values around 300- 500kb/sec, column 2 with 20kb/sec

EDIT: Okay, I am NOT using Steam and flew from Memory Alpha to B'Tran with no sign of problems. So, could be Steam.

Yeah, me either. Steam set off my antivirus and antispyware software. I had to disable them to install it for Civ 5.
Surprisingly, Steam doesn't seem to be the source of the disconnects. I hope Cryptic gets this sorted out soon.

It's not on my end, these disconnects

I only ask because a few of us in europe are having similar problems in another thread on here....

Turn it on > Options> Disable Steam Interface while in game> Problem solved > ???? > Profit.

Do not have stream never had and never will
The launcher aslo seems to be having some serious problems, with it taking anywhere from 5-20 minutes just to get into the game.
It was not like this before the recent server stability patch, so I'm betting it's something in that patch that's gone a bit pear shaped.
I have talked to my ISP, and they have not gotten any error reports at all, and they are not throtteling nor have they closed any ports.
This seems to be a problem on Cryptic's side, particularly since the launcher are so un-cooperative as it is today...
**Edit: The forums seems to rather slow today aswell...**
