Need help with redeeming/registering to the game.

I don't know if I'm sounding like a complete noob or if I'm missing something here but I redeemed the two codes I got with my Star Trek Online (retail version), then after I redeem one of the 2 codes it says "You Are Subscribing To: Star Trek Online - Star Trek Online - Retail
With 30 free days" or "Gold Edition
With 30 free days" (whatever code for which) but then when I run my launcher it tells me "Account error, please click here for more information" which takes me to http://startrekonline.com/support/account_error which tells me "This game requires a retail purchase to play. Please visit this page to get your copy!
If you've already purchased the game, please enter your retail key here." I then do the retail key thing again and it just happens again in a cycle...
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    to activate the game you need to

    1. buy the game (sounds like you did this)
    2. enter the retail key (sounds like you did this)

    (not sure if you did all the rest)

    3. select a renewing subscriptiopn (required)
    4. enter how you plan to pay for the subscription once it starts
    5. wait for cryptic to validate the payment type. (they do it in batchs so time varies)

    then your account will be active withthe 30 days subscription bonus.

    if you used a credit card or paypal then you wil not be charged for the subscription until after the 30 day bonus.

    if you use a gametime card then the 30 days will be added to the time of the gamecard ie 30 day gamecard + 30 day bonus = 60 dayes before you have to enter antoher game card to play.

    if you skip any of these steps then the game will not be active
