Since crossfire came out everytime I try to log in a "Verify?" window comes up telling me I should verify all files and it should only take 10 to 20 minutes. So I verify them, and the engage button pops up, seems standard enough. I hit engage and the CRYPTIC logo comes up and then nothing else happens for a while. After about five minutes a window pops up that says...
Fatal Error: Unable to initialize on-demand patching and connect to
Patch Server: The connection was idle for too long
then there is an OK button and when I hit it a window for Cryptic pops up to tell them about the problem.
I've tried downloading the game over and over, repatching the whole thing 4 times, I've turned off and on the on demand patching, I've tried opening up the settings on my fire wall, somewhere between the patcher window closing and the client window opening there is some kind of connection issue between my computer and the game client server.
I don't understand what to do, really frustrated here, spent 2 days of my time off from work trying to get it straightened out. Can someone please help me?

redownloaded once more, re patched it...just about out of patience.
Good Luck They don't care I have had a ticket open for nearly a week because the game client has crashed consistently since the new patch and got no responce. I went to their live chat and asked that all lost time be rolled over because it was due to the patch that I have been unable to play the game I pay monthly for and this has happened in other MMORPGs and they have given me those days. They responded that they would not as its a violation of TOS and to just cancel my subscription and submit a ticket (At this point my technical Ticket had been unanswered for over 4 days)
I replied back I felt it was beyond sad that they cared so little for customer service and even blamed me in their wording as if its my fault for subscribing in the first place and told them that I felt they were just robbing my bank account by not just giving me the days which I have and continue to be unable to play the game which is reasonable. They saw otherwise and will not budge, I informed them I would be going above their heads about this and they closed the ticket and said this issue is resolved even if I was not satisfied.
I've played a lot of MMORPGs but I have never been treated so poorly nor with such lack of care for the customer.
I am having the exact same problem right now. I have been trying all day to get it working. If it takes more than a week to get it to work, and Cryptic doesn't refund my money, then they are flat out thieves.
Verify is the Box to check on the Main Launch Screen. Before you Launch, Click Options at the Top, and check the Box: "Force Verify" Then run the Launcher as normal. It forces SW to make sure the game files are accurate, and Up-To-Date.
Do you happen to use any software firewalls or have any Security packages which include firewalls, I use zonealarm free and did get something similar when I accidentally denied STOL access to the internet after one of the patches.
You could also try altering the in game proxy settings, its in the same place as the on demand patching, its only three settings, none, US or EU.
