What the heck is wrong with that server ????
I have a fine Internet because my other MMOs are doing great No Problems the only problem is with STO .
Server Time Out again again again and again !!!!
Server is not responding Again again and again !!!
The game crashes Again Again and Again .....

So whats is wrong here can't even stay online without problems for 5 Min's !!!!
And today I had some spare time there was nothing it's really UTC from 18 until 23:00 ours .
It's because Europe and America all together on one server the US server I think .
This is going on for some time now it's not fun playing to be honest .
Also in the ST F's map transfer half my team was dropout because of an time out .

So for god sake DO something buy more servers or something jeez take us serious for once.....

Horrible lag and rubberbanding since Season 4 here too.
Never had it before but yesterday I had to quit an STF because of it. No programs running parallel.

Oh well. Bugs from Season 4 kill gameplay for me anyway. PvP queues anyone?

I would need to ask you to submit a tech ticket and work with them.

If it was the servers that cause the problem, all hell would break loose as all users would experience the problem (or all users in a certain area; meaning that your entire group would have been affected).

    Thanks so much!

I have to agree on this. If the problems was the servers, there would be a great deal more complaining than the "handful" or so, I've seen here.

I for one have no issues, so it has to be somthing from between somwhere outside of cryptics house, and you...

Ditto. I've had no issues with season 4.

(Not saying this to annoy, just to help Cryptic narrow down what's wrong where. It's different if it's a universal problem than if it's say... some kind of conflict specific to certain set ups.)

This has been a common theme I have also had problems with this, however when I disabled Voice Chat everything was fine afterwards!

I can remember have connection problems when season 2 went live. I took a couple days and then problem passed. I'm curious what the cause of this is because it would seem after every season there are a large amount of people reporting a problem like this, but it's never everyone.

There are 2 programs that cause STO to go nuts

1 Teamviewer (a remote desktop program) causes the launcher to act funny and the game to crash on launch
    2. X-Fire

I don't know what the X-fire issue is i uninstalled in a wile ago.

I had intermittent problems last night with "Server Not Responding" when switching maps. Then I would get Disconnected. Then I would log back in, choose my character, then get "Server Not Responding" all over again. When a map did load there was MAJOR latency and sometimes rubber banding.

After a while it cleared up. This did not happen prior to Season 4.

My internet connection was fine. And I have no idea what X-Fire, Teamviewer or what other programs are mentioned here. When I play STO only STO is running on my pc.

I've been getting disconnected using wifi ever since season four was on Tribble but on Holodeck it's been way worse. I've been getting disconnected within seconds up to a minute everytime I logged on. I disable on demand patching, I uninstalled and reinstalled but that didn't help, didn't make it any easier being disconnected every 15 seconds while trying to update or reinstall the game. When that didnt work I disable voice chat, still no luck. I made sure all drivers were updated and they were. So finally I used a hard wired connection and magically the disconnects went away. I'm not sure but somehow I believe STO is conflicting with my wireless card, since the only thing that has changed on my computer was the update of Season 4. Thankfully for ethernet cable I can at least play but I'd like to know if the problem is in fact on cryptics end. I put a T/C in on Saturday but I haven't received a response from them yet.

Even so, when that kept happening to me, it's because my internet connection was not stable unless I rebooted the modem and router. Games and VPN's are usually the first to notice when bad packets are clogging the pipeline.

I know all about game crashing my rl friend who also plays Crashes almost every time the loading screen is used. It was fine until season 4 came out. Even today after a few hotfixes he still crashes.

Does anyone know a way to solve these crashes.

I think its to much people on STO that the servers just can't give everyone a connexxion .
So I believe they have to update/upgrade their servers so they can serve larger groups.
WOW just did it a while ago also complaints of server time outs .

My rubber banding/ DC's start right around now; I am certain it isn't my connection, because of my speed test results as well as checking my modem and running net test, which failed, again. (though, if we have a new one could/would someone link that ?) I is Only STO that gives me a problem, I don't have steam Xfire, at all and don't have Voice chat going so its not that. It is and only seems to be around DS9 and Quarks, where it happens, it is also the place I reported the issue with the Boff's coming down with folks causing issues with chat lag, lag in general and other issues.

Sorry but it doesn't hold up in this instance. I was on Qo'noS and ask if anyone else was experiencing server not responding, disconnects and rubber banding. 5 people responded yes in zone chat.

Edit: It's also pretty intermittent but it's been happening since Season 4. I usually have zero problems with my internet connection and STO.

    Na, I meant that game-chat-program-thingie... http://www.xfire.com/

Basically it seems that people who have this program running, cant connect to the game.

If it was everyone at random, i'd agree with you, but the people affected by this are in such a narrow selection that it has to be a localized phenomenon.
Sorry... But it has to be outside of Cryptic... It is too selective to be server space issues. Connection space isn't selective... whoever comes first, gets first in... that is not the case here.

Also, I was doing Devidian missions on my other account earlier. On Drozana station the role players were complaining that local chat was dying on them. Then it came back and they started RP'ing again.

I also could not do a bug report. I tried several times to submit the report and got this "Timeout waiting on server" error.

If any GM or Dev is reading this thread please have them check with the network guys. This is not a localized phenomenon.

But what I told you before other MMO RPG and some other MMOs I play I never had this Issue .

    EVE
    WOW
    NFSW

I never have issues with server time outs only with STO I have this Issue .
And I have a constant speed 54 MBPS only with thunder storms but those days I do not play.

Ok.. So it is safe to assume that it is not your PC at this point (but... I DID have to re-allow acces through the windows firewall after the Season 4 patch).
Next step is if you have a router? Although it is highly unlikely, you may want to reset it.

Also: Are you using access through a Proxy? If not, try to do so... sometimes it fixes it for me.

are you sure that your connection speed and not the max speed of your router? they are two different things
54megs is huge. i can only get 2.2, most people if they are lucky get 6 or 8.

Also, try disabling the Vivox voice chat in the options menu. And, if you haven't already - try also disabling "On Demand" patching in the Launcher.

Some players with the intermittent connection issue reoport the problems cleared up after doing both of the above. (Meaning the STO Team really needs to look at the Vivox integration/implementation as it may be doing wierd things.)

Theese speeds are quite commonly avaviable where I am.. And I have STO and a DL running while this test was run ;)

Anyways... I have to agree with Revo on this one... Most places in the world do not have thoose speeds avaviable.

Folks (and I will really make this a copy-paste posting):

Without detailed information we cannot ever assist you. And detailed information is not "STO does not work but WoW works!". They are different server locations. You so not use the same pathways to get to server A that you use to get to server B.
    • *Always* run a tracert. Find out which hops you are taking and where the lag starts.
    • *Always* use the nettest tool to check if you are able to connect properly.
    • *Always* add from where you are playing (I don't need your address, but we do need to know where in the world you are and what your internet service provider is)
Tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com to check your routing.
    Nettest:
    • Go to files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
    • Download this file and run it
    • A command prompt should appear running the test automatically
    • Do alt prtscn(be sure the nettest is the active window) to Copy and paste the results in paint and save as jpeg and attach it in a post in this forum else
    • write down the columns
Good results have column 1 and 3 with values around 300- 500kb/sec, column 2 with 20kb/sec

These three are the minimum we need to even be able to guess where the problem could be.
