so here's the story. a while ago, i purchased STO from steam when it was on sale, figuring i would give it a shot one day. so i hear season 4 is coming out soon, so about a week ago, i installed the game and played through the tutorial with a few characters to get a feel for it.
then season 4 was patched in and i was thinking this game was pretty solid, maybe i'll pay for a month.
and then i notice that when i bought the steam version, it came with 2 keys - one called digital deluxe and another called phaser turret unlock or something to that effect. i was curious to what these do so i went to the STO homepage and copy and pasted them in to the 'activate code' box. the first key did nothing, but the 2nd key, to my surprise, credited me with 30 days game time. bonus! so i get all set up to play some STO but now when i go to log in my previous characters, i'm getting the message that the title of this thread is.
why can't i play with these characters? do i have to make a new one?
no, i used the code while i was logged in already. i mean, i was logged in on the star trek online website when i used it, and then i went to start the game, and then i got the error message.
submitted. i hope the issue is fixed soon. as soon as i entered the key it started eating up my game time, so now i'm basically paying to wait for a solution.
You should be able to claim back eaten up subscription time if its due toa bug on their system.
I have claimed back 2 months of sub from LOTRO due to a similiar bug.
Mythic gave me a month back due to a bug on WAR.
SWG constantly buggered up my girlfriends account and they would re-pay her any lost time.
Then lets look at other examples in my life:
Our pay-tv 'box' failed to read paid for channels, so we got an extra 30 days free.
Same as above with my telecommunications provider.
Some people say it can;t happen, interrupted service or not. You can claim back easily, its all in how you approach the devs/call center girls in the initial encounter and also helps if your customer record is a good influx of always on-time payments.
The more money they make off you, the more they will bend over with a smile when you prove beyond a doubt it is their issue, not yours.
I have this error as well so I asked it on the Live Support. They said those accounts get this message which have demo version too and they are working on it to resolve the problem.
has this been fixed yet? i just bought the game and got the message straight away... i dont fancy starting again
I just had my ticket updated to tell me that they won't be fixing it because the demo has been discontinued. Since I bought the game in order to keep playing my demo character, I'm more than a little ****ed. That's some great customer service you've got there cryptic!

I also did submit a ticket, but alas, haven't gotten a word back on it yet.
