Client crash

I've just applied the latest patch and tried to play the game. Twice. The game crashed both times. I'm doing a "force verify" right now, but In the mean time:

    Is the problem unfixable?

Just out of curiosity, have you updated Video drivers? thats an Nvidia component from the looks of it, if not, try that as a suggestion also look around here in the forum I'd bet if it was more than you, it would be in another thread.

I thought that after I posted the thread, so I updated my video drivers (And all other drivers), I've done a force verify, I turned off progressive downloading, I even deleted the game and reinstalled it. No luck on any of it.

The only thing in Windows update I haven't installed is Windows 7 SP1, which I'm going to install later but I'm not sure if it'll help.

If you've not installed that, try it, its a logical step. Friend of mine was getting the game crash that killed his net and SP1 helped him as I recall.

Just installed SP1. STO is still crashing after half a minute of being logged in.
EDIT: I just loaded the game in safe mode. Character screen was fine, but when I logged in, the game was distorted for a bit then crashed.

ok couple of other things we can check that have given folks some issues. First do you have Steam or Xfire? if so you should take a read on those threads here in the forum. If not, great. Next do you have patch on demand disabled? If not try that as well as disabling the Voice chat program. See if any of that helps, if so let us know what so we can use it again, if nothing, well then we keep digging.

I have both Steam and Xfire.

One of them appears to have been the cause. I just disabled XFire Ingame (For STO) and Steam Community (For STO) and logged in. I was able to adjust a few settings and even transfer to my bridge.

    Thanks for your help :)

Glad to hear it worked! I personally don't use Steam or Xfire because of things like this happening but none the less, your back in game, and that, is what counts. Have fun!:)
