Hello,
I am posting this here to get some attention to a problem that seems to be spreading and effecting a number of people.
Ever since I downloaded S4 to Tribble and again to Holodeck yesterday, I have experienced repeated Game crashes that 9 out 10 times totally disconnects my Internet for a few minutes. The internet works fine outside of the game.
I have a 3.10Ghz Processor, 6G Ram, 1Gb AMD Graphics Processor, 7MB Downlaod Speed Internet.
Before seeing other players with the same problem I thought it was an ISP fault and they have checked my set up, of which nothing has changed for the whole time I have played STO since launch and they then since an Engineer to check the Echange and line etc and all checked out.
I have disabled Voice Chat as that seems to be the tip of the hour, but still the same problem persists. I was even thinking of deleting the game and re-downloading it.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Please Cryptic, could you double check that they is no fishy code in the new Season that may be causing these disconnects and internet time outs.

Internet disconnect and Launcher issues have been forwarded to the network operations team for investigation. We will update if we learn anything.
In the meantime, we suggest updating video card drivers and selecting full patch from the launcher options.
Some further information that might help... I turned off on-demand patching as soon as it became available so the season have been fully patched on Tribble and Holodeck (I like all my downloads at once).
I have uninstalled the game and re-downloading to see if this helps.
Yeah DStahl the Exec Producer of the game has read my opening post and passed the message on to the Network Engineers to investigate.
Multiple threads exist on this topic.

ALL that
that made my job easy thxs
Ps APB has this prom and hasnt fixed nothing
Despite the launcher telling me I'm fully updated, on some loading screens there is a patching message on the top of the sceen. If this 'patching' lasts for more than about 30 seconds my internet shuts down.
Deleting the live file and let it repatch.
i've wasted money paying for something i can no longer enjoy playing fully, whilst its like this i very much doubt i will be playing this game again and very much doubt i'd get refund either
How do I disable the Vivox? I can't even get in the game once it comes up my Internet shuts down and I am stuck!!! On occasion I get maybe 30 seconds....Where is the INGAME options TAB. I just tried and my Internet dropped after about 18 seconeds...
I then rbefore downloading again turned of on-demand patching... When I tried to re-install it would get as far 1-200mbs downloaded and the Internet would crawl to a halt and stop working. I gave up at mid night.
However the rest of the game downloaded fine this morning, logged in and disabled Vivox. However the problem of Server not responding and /or knocking off my internet remains!
I hope the message Dstahl passed to the Network guys is dealt with soon.
I tried those with no change. All I get is "Fatel Error: Unable to initialiize on-demand patching and connect to patch server. The connection was idle for too long"
Update one week later - Back in the game but since it was down so long I've kinda lost interest. Too bad it took so long to get fixed.
But to try and see what is happening to the line when I am playing and had the router statistics window open on 10sec intervals and when the game disconnected from the server the noise Margin on my connection jumped from 5-7dbs to 217,284,987dbs!
I hope you guys can get this fixed... I am missing my Trek fun.
I can't help but wonder if this is a DOCSIS problem?
I am surprised Disable Chat did not work for you!!
guess NG-undead cruisers get a pass from the one shot well minimax's connection maybe working fine so maybe no pass hehehe.
Every time I try to zone into a new sector block or map, there's an extremely high chance I get disconnected. Just now logging into the game, it took me 4 attempts to log straight in to do my Deferi dailies. If my experience is unchanged from the past few days, I can almost guarantee I'll be disconnected a few times trying to load in to a Patrol map or Kelvani system.
I'm also noticing STO really impacting my internet performance at times. When doing dailies, I'll often watch either SC2 games, Netflix, or Hulu or something on my second monitor. During these disconnect issues while the game is running, my internet speed takes a massive dive. As soon as the game closes, I return to my normal 5.5 megabyte downs/ 1.5 megabyte up connection. I've tested as low as .5 megabytes up during these issues (and yes, that's a 5.5 MB or 55Mh connection, just so there's no confusion).
I'd really love some sort of solution.
Also am suffering from STO crash causing internet speed drop when STO crashes it also makes Teamspeak crash which really sucks in group missions when you drop and cant tell anyone until its back online.
Am running STO on:
AMD Phenom II 3.4 Ghz quad core
8 GB ddr2 ram (800 Mhz)
Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 Ti (1 GB of ram onboard)
Windows 7 (64 bit)
ran test on connection and got 29.56 Mbps download and 6.25 Mbps upload speeds
Running game on all Recommended/High settings. Vivox Voice Chat Disabled. On-Demand Patching Disabled. Issue did not exist on Tribble Test Shard during HOURS of testing I did there, so I'm not convinced its entirely a S4 patch issue. Ran Borg missions many times, including STFs with fleetmates to test the ground combat. Did a fair share of routine dailies just to ensure stability too and had no issues. Only other detail I can even think may be relevant.
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33ghz
3 GB DDR3 1066mhz
EVGA Nvidia Geforce 460 GTX 1GB
Windows 7 32bit
On-demand patching is Disabled, Voice chat is Disabled, my drivers are up-to-date, I had no problems pre Season 4... I do NOT have issues out of STO... Therefor Season 4 HAS to be the cause...
Are you connected with your computer directly to the modem (and the modem to internet)
OR
is are you connected via a LAN Cable to a router and the router to the modem?
If there is a router, what Model is it and which distributor?
When answering those question, i probably can give you a very good solution for resolving your issue!
Linksys E3000
I doubt its a port forwarding issue.
OK check if there is a newer version of the linksys E3000 Firmware and update it. Before you do update firmware, be sure to make a backup of your router config.
Linksys does not have issues with STO, have a WRT54G v1.0 HyperWRT Firmware myself
