I just rebooted my Computer after Experiencing the Blue Screen of Death that was caused by STO.
I just logged off from one character, to switch to another. Alt-Tabbed to got the STO Forums. Then screen goes black, a brief message that my monitor was shutting down, then the blue screen from Windows BIOS saying something about Physical Memory.
I encountered the same thing during Tribble Testing and made a post on the Tribble Forums. Personally, I am disappointed there was no fix or follow though. And I trust this will be one of the fixes in the next day or so.
Occurred the same way: Log off to Main Screen, Alt-Tab, Black Screen, Video Card Shutdown, Blue Screen.
I have a 9500GT Nvidia Card, with Drivers up to date. And the Blue Screen mentions Video Memory and Windows shutting down. So hope this additiona information helps.
Something similar happened to me, without the blue screen however. The game window just turned black and never recovered. I had to use the task manager to shut down STO and restart. Do not use alt+tab, use the windows key, that does seem to work without causing problems.
Are you using an Nvidia graphics card with the latest v275.33 drivers? If so that's probably what's causing your BSODs, it came out not too long ago and I was having a lot of BSODs in STO and even Firefox (On YouTube pages) with those drivers. Lots of similar complaints about it on various Nvidia forums, downgrading to the v266.58 drivers solves it for the large part.
