Whenever I try to start the game, I'm given a little withing that says, "Trying to update the launcher. Please be patient. Tried connecting X times." X just keeps going up.
Last night I was able to play, but whenever I changed areas the connection would drop and I'd have to log in again.
I just subscribed. I gave it a few months to let the technical issues settle, and the day I start up this is going on. Is this the normal state of the game? I'm not going to pay for something that doesn't work.
For good connections, column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). If the values in these columns is less than what is expected you may have filtering or blocked ports either on your personal network or from your ISP.
the game uses ports 7000-7500 and require them not to be filtered or blocked
also the net code is such it has little tollerence for weak connections
Forwarded those ports and it seems to be working. A little miffed that I should be poking around in my router settings to get a modern game working, but I suppose it will do for now.
Comments
post a dxdiag on your system
post the results of a tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com and a nettest
also are you wire or wireless connection
Nettest:
Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download this file and run it
A command prompt should appear running the test automatically

Thanks for the help.
