Today was my first day back in STO in months, and while it has been fun to level, I have been crashing all day and it has gotten so bad that I now cannot load the game so I could use some assistance.
When I ran the launcher earlier, it asked if I wanted to verify files and that it would take 10-20 minutes. I didn't have time so said no. I loaded into the game ok, did some things on SPD and it crashed again. Next time, Launcher was fine, but as soon as I hit Engage, the box came up asking what I was doing at the time of the crash. I try again, and it crashes.
I am now trying to force a full file verification to see if that fixes it. Anything else I can try?
Some Anti-Virus programs such as Panda Antivirus will corrupt the game client files. You could try disabling your AV protection while playing to see if that helps. Check to make sure you have no other programs running in the background. Teamviewer is also known to cause repeated game crashes.
If none of the above apply to you, you could always try a full uninstall / re-install. In my experience, the force verify routine is not always good about finding and correcting file problems.
