Disregard. Had to become a reviewer first. Did not expect that for a spotlight mission :p

You had to become a reviewer? That would mean this mission hasnt even been played 5 times(as of when you looked for it). How the heck did this get chosen as a spotlight without having gone through the review process? I guess the author most know someone at Cryptic :P

    No foul play at all.

This mission had to be unpublished by the user because his handle had been changed. Sadly handle changes do not show in the Foundry, as it does not re-sync with the system after a handle is updated. (Different servers that never were meant to speak to one another and all that.)

I'm sorry it's still 'under review'; I had hoped that in the week it took to change everything around the mission would have been back in the regular review lists.

    Well, that explains it.

I enjoyed the mission. It has a great story with plenty of Trek techno babble, and references to TNG and TOS. The only issue I had was with defending the USS Echo. The enemies were placed right on top of her, and were unresponsive. Being in an escort, they quickly went down, and took the Echo with their warp core explosions. Immediately after, I received a hail from the Captain thanking me for the assistance. I LOL'd.

Might want to move those enemies a little further away to avoid that. :)

I realize the "Spotlight Missions" is to showcase exceptionally well done missions by the community. But surely, you could've chosen a Klingon mission or two, to spotlight?

A well done mission. A bit wordy at times, but overall enjoyable.

It was and 'ok' re-telling of the Hunt for Red October . The USS Dallas reference was a bit much for me. But then what the heck do I know... it's better than anything I could have done.;)

The last spotlight was, in fact, a Klingon mission. :)

sean connery would make an epic Klingon. Agreed this mission is the story of The Hunt for the Red October.

I'm honored to have my mission featured! Thanks to everyone playing it! I know it's not perfect, but I sure enjoyed creating it.

I've tinkered around with this quite a bit... I realized that if I moved them any further away it would break up the pace of the mission, and it seemed to drag... I have had this problem on occasion, but for now I left it so it doesn't keep the player down and so it leaves them with a sense of urgency. It's a bummer that it removes the player from continuity for a few seconds on occasion, but I plan to keep tinkering with it when I have the time to get it just right.

I've actually been considering doing this mission from the Klingon perspective... I think it could be interesting to see how the Klingons may be dealing with this situation.

    It is absolutely an homage...
I'm a big Trek nerd as many of us are, and I was recently watching some interviews on one of the Star Trek movies I recently bought and rewatched on bluray. They were talking about the TOS episode "Balance of Terror" and how Gene Roddenberry was trying to get the feel of submarine warfare. It inspired me. The USS Dallas isn't the only reference to THFRO in there, if you look hard enough! :)

Anyways, thanks for playing it! And big thanks to Cryptic for featuring it! :D

P.S. I loved the trailer, who do I need to thank for that?! It was really cool to see, and the one you guys did for the last spotlight was pretty epic also.

Nice mission, if a little heavy on the exposition side.
After that it has a nice pace, and not too much filler-fluff flying.
Nice mix of space and ground combat too, with a nice big ending.
    Good stuff.

Two nitpicks: "At least we learned some something" <-- extra "some", was in one of the texts on the bridge of the Exeter.
And the other one is quite common, the missing comma before the adress of the player.
"I owe you one Captain Jalax" is not the same as "I owe you one, Captain Jalax" ;)
But like I said, those are nitpicks, and not too detriment to the overall enjoyment of the episode. :)

But I have to admit, I have yet to get into the foundry, so my talk is cheap indeed. ;)
At any rate, Seancy8512, I'm looking forward to playing more foundry missions by you!

Thank you! People were telling me I had some grammar mistakes and such in there, but it's a daunting task to go through and find them. I always try to proof-read - I'm a writer by trade - but the Foundry doesn't make it easy because you have to go through it dialog box by dialog box. Even so, I'll still miss some from time to time.

If it's cool with you I'd like to friend you and anyone else that wouldn't mind playing through some of my missions, to help with those mistakes. I have about 3 missions I'm working on now, and about 3 more on the back burner. I hope to have the first of the three published into the foundry by Friday.

    Thanks again!

I played this mission a few weeks ago. It was a lot of fun. I believe I left a comment on my review refering to the Dak Duj as the I.K.S. Red October or something. Too bad the Klingons don't have a typhoon ship class.

Great adaptation, but some changes to the title and the name of the U.S.S. Dallas might make the story more a mystery til the end. The entire mission I could anticipate what was next, with the klingon crew singing in russian proudly in my head.
My hat is off to you sir!

All you have to do is write out your text in a word editor and then copy/paste it into the boxes when your done. That will help you find mistakes :)

That's exactly what I did. However, there were still a few mistakes that got past me...

Such as the "we did learn some something from it"...

Silly little mistakes... But annoying none the less.

I plan on spending some time in the Foundry tonight, so I'll fix those mistakes. My next mission will be published sometime tomorrow evening or Sat morning. I'll make sure to post on this thread once it's up with the mission name. :)

My next foundry mission "Brownout" will be released this week - hopefully before Friday.

"Starfleet is having problems expanding the transwarp network. The Deferi have supplied us information about the Euquiqueans, a peaceful, if xenophobic species with technology that would revolutionize our ability to deploy within the transwarp network. Very little is known of the Euquiqueans, and they have ignored all offers at a traditional first contact protocol, until now. They have agreed to meet as long as the Deferi accompany us, and the Deferi are requesting you…"

I gave up on the mission after the rendezvous with the Dallas.
I spent 10-15 minutes scanning the circle on the map -- and once I finally found a signal, ended up having to scan another circle while trying to figure out what the heck was meant by "Follow the subspace wake" (with nothing marked on the screen or map). Being randomly kicked out to Regulus system after another 10 minutes -- with no option to pick up the mission where I left off -- was the final straw.

Maybe I'm missing something -- I'd like to know what.

You're not the first person to tell me of this... After you meet the Dallas there should be a waypoint to the right. Flying into it triggers it, then another one appears near it. For some, they make it to the first waypoint just fine, but instead the same problem happens with the second. It's only happened with a very small amount of people but I couldn't replicate the situation when trying to correct it.
    - I even tried rebuilding the entire map from scratch to correct this problem. With apparently no luck, I'm forced to leave it as is, until I can find a work around.

And as for the picking up the mission, that's a deal with the foundry. If you leave a foundry mission it basically makes you start over. Unless there is some feature I'm missing that allows you to continue after a certain point and if that's the case any foundry user that can point it out to me would be a saint.

I know it's frustrating. I hate playing a mission and being stunted by a problem that doesn't let you complete it. I'm sorry you didn't like it. I hope at some point you'll give it another shot. Usually when someone plays through, after they give it a second whirl, the problem doesn't repeat.

I've always been told that we CAN'T change our handles under any circumstances.
I would like to change my handle then as my account has apparently been TRIBBLE.
Who do I talk to about this?

That is a quote of Orson Scott Card from 'Ender's Shadow'.

Unfortunately, as of right now this mission - along with many other foundry missions - is bugged due to the Season 4 update. I'm going to wait and see if Cryptic has a way of fixing this before I take it down, but as of right now, the mission is on the fritz.

At least I know why the Foundry was taken offline. I clicked the "read more" link on the news part of my client but did not see the reason why the Foundry is offline.

I'd like to nominate for highlight the entire Infiltration Series by Captain_Revo. The first Mission, "Crouching Ty'Gokor, Hidden Demon", is already highlighted.

That's the least interesting of the 5. It's all uphill from there.
