for about 4 months now, I have not been able to play any cryptic game (Champions Online and Star Trek Online) for more than 20 minutes at a time because the game crashes. The game freezes and noting happens, and I get a game is not responding message asking if I want to close the program or wait. I've tried waiting and letting it sit for an hour, so that didn't work. There is no error log generated. I've tried re-installing the game, and have updated my graphics drivers several times during this time hoping that would resolve the problem. I have tried test and live shards on Champions Online, and Tribble and Holodeck for Star Trek Online. I use to play hours on end with no problems. I've tested my ram and it showed 0 errors. My other video games do not cause this problem, and I have many. My power supply is 1k watt, so I have enough power.
I have attached my dxdiag.
This forum won't let me upload my GamePrefs.pref file so here it is.

From your DXDiag I assume you have two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 running in SLI mode. Have you tried disabling it just as a test to see if maybe that could be an issue? Also, have you been monitoring your CPU and GPU temps to be certain it might not be a thermal issue with one or more components.
The new Cryptic engine does seem to make more full use of features on existing hardware; and as a result, you could be getting significantly higher temps when running STO then with your other games; and that might be causing problems.
When I first started playing STO - I had two Nvidia 7950s in SLI mode (and had STO configured to make use of SLI); but after about 4 months (closed beta through launch); I found that on of those cards was having a thermal issue that did cause crashes; so I went from those two cards to a single GTX 260.
So, yeah, I'd do a test to see how it runs with SLI disabled (just as a test), and also monitor your CPU and GPU componemt temps to see if anythings exceeding a heat threshold.
I only run 1 video card, I am not running SLI. I run 2 monitors on 1 card. Temps seem normal, and quite frankly, Cryptic games do not push my rig very much, not like Everquest 2, Dragon Age 2 or even Fallout Las Vegas.
