I've tried different proxies, but it still won't patch. It just stays at 1%, I haven't encountered this issue before, is it due to high demand (i.e. the new rerun) or something else?
Edit: I unticked "patch via proxy" and fingers crossed, it's all going swimmingly. Never had this happen before though.
Thought I would give this game a try as steam where selling it for £2.37 downloaded the game started patching after i logged in and 4 hours later patcher has downloaded 0% got less than 1mb in 4 hours !!!!!! tried the proxies and switching off firewalls but still the same so ive written a ticket and my estimate is probably 1-2 weeks for the patch to download lol so i start looking around the net and theres alot of posts talking about how slow the patcher is unless u live in the states and use usa proxy. I know like me others would have bought the steam deal and could be slowing the patch server down but this slow really ???
Nothing like making a good impression on a new customer.
Not sure what's clogging up the network on your end, but I'm in the UK and have fantastic patching speed atm.
I had problems patching though, I kept getting a cryptic crash reporter appear at 1097Mb downloaded (~550Mb patched). After it failing a few times, I've deleted the HOGG files, and going to download a full 9530Mb. So far I've managed to get about 4Gb in about an hour.
Could your speed problems be Router / Port-Forwarding / Firewall misconfiguration?
and - Does your ISP throttle/limit your connection? (due to bandwidth limits, packet-sniffing, peak-time P2P usage, etc)
The patcher makes use of P2P downloading, and in times of high downloads, supplements most of the bandwidth. Specifically, it operates on ports 6881-6889.
And yes, I agree, over-dependence on P2P downloading is a bad business plan.
I just downloaded the fileplanet sto client and after it installed it wanted to download 9gb patch. Most UK isp's use network management at peak times 4pm-11pm but i was trying to patch at 6am UK time so there was no network management on. I turned off all internet security and firewalls to make sure it wasn't blocking, port forwarding on my router (BT hub 3) has presets so i tried some of the pier to pier settings and still no luck. I'm beginning to look at this issue as not worth bothering about I've never had any problems like this before and i have played and still do play many different mmo's. I don't see this as my problem as i have done everything i could possibly do will await to hear from customer support to answer my ticket, had no reply as yet.I have BT option 3 package which is their top package unlimited downloads.
found this from another post and forwarded all the ports mentioned and still doesn't work.
Just got a responce back from tech support at cryptic. Here is a responce.
"The ports that STO uses are TCP: 80, 443, 7003, 7202, 7255 and 7499 You can use this tool to check to see if you are getting network communication on those ports or we have a proxy option that may help you connect. Run the nettest tool a.) Download the tool by clicking this link and save it to your desktop http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe b.) Double click the file and let the program run c.) If any of the numbers in the third column come back as 0 KB/sec then the port listed in the second column are being blocked. Check your network monitoring software again to make sure they have an exception for our game. Try the Cryptic Proxy: a.) Start the Champions Online client b.) Enter your username and password c.) Let the game patch if needed d.) Click on the Options button at the top of the launcher screen and change the Proxy drop down to EU or US e.) Click Play! Sincerely, Cryptic Studios Technical Support"
Im also having trouble patching the game. I have just re installed the game and it simply will not patch for me.
I installed the game the first time a couple of days ago and the patch worked fine. (Then in some zealous rage I uninstalled it because I decided I needed to do more revision, and have now come crawling back because ive realized I do need some R and R)
So the game re installed quickly without any problems, but now the patch keeps crashing giving me the error code 12491117. It gets to a different point every time but still crashes, its also going fairly slowly when it is working.
Ive tried using the proxy server for the EU (Im in the UK) and that doesnt seem to be doing anything past 1000kb it seems to freeze which is just ridiculous.
I would really appreciate any advice on what to do!
I am having a similar issue with little help from tech support.... here's my ticket..
I have just installed STO and have been prompted to patch
After starting the patch, the download rate is very very slow. its still at 0.4% after hours. The "Received" data tends to move then halt for a long time.
I have opened ports 7000 - 7499 on my router and no other firewall is in place.
Upon pressing X on the launcher I can see all files in a "REQ_DATA" state with very little or no movement.
These will change but the below stats always choke and go to zero
