How to force a total new patching

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Launcher started and went about it's job patching. I left. When I came back my PC had rebooted and now when I start STO, launcher verifies then acts like it is going to start after engage, then says fatal error: wrong number of Bytes and points to piggs/hoggs

Is there a way to force a full new patching? Make it think it has not patched? After 3 verifies it can't seem to fix itself.

Tried online support but they are closed.

Any thoughts?:confused::confused::confused:

    just delete the affected hogg file and the launcher will download a new version.

    Thanks for the quick response. I did try it and after a reload of it I got the same error. I then tried to delete all of the ones showing today's date and it locked up rebuilding them. I then deleted every file in pigg directory and moved over all from the prepatch copy and it is doing a major rebuild currently. Hopefully that may help.

    Thanks for the clues to this one.

    also some antivirus programs will corrupt files on download
    panda 2011 have been noted to do this as one example so you may need to turn off the antivirus during the patching.

    Well so far no go. I have deleted the entire piggs folder and it goes after 9530 MB and gets to about 9387.1 and sits there at 98%. I have my virus scanner disabled at time. Getting so close to a full reinstall which just seems pointless but this does not make sense. I've never once before had trouble with an update and I have done a full scan / repair of the PC hard drive as well just to cover bases.

    At a bit of a loss but still looking.:confused:

    I just wanted to follow up and close this out. I spent most of a day working on this and ended up installing and reinstalling the game in order to get it to work again. Just a reminder to all if your ever pushed to that point to remember that you will need to rebuild any settings you made for audio, video etc once your back up and working.

    Not the ideal choice, always hate un-re combo but even support could only offer that suggestion.

    I am not sure what else changed video related in this last patch but I dare say something did.
