Nvidia: Some graphical options disabled

Hello,

I bought a new ASUS ENGTX560 TI to replace my old Radeon HD4890.
Well when i reinstall the driver every thing seems to be fine, but after reboot there are some video options which are disabled and could not be reactivated:

Additionaly i could not set Shadows higher than low :/.

Does anyone have the same problem?

EDIT: Could it be that the problem is my overclocked card? I bought the version from ASUS which is overclovked from 830 MHz to 900 MHz by default.

Did you do a clean install of drivers?

yes ... i first uninstalled old drivers and let Windows install Standard VGA drivers. Then installed the Nvidia drivers. This works to play STO with all options. but after reboot and stating STO again i have these disabled options again. I can reproduce that with reinstalling drivers. as long as i do not reboot everything seems to be allright.

Don't rely on windows stadard drivers go to Nvidia Driver Downloads and select your card and operationg system version and install the newest drivers direct from Nvidia, never go third party for driver

EDIT: nvm i missed that you said you got nvidia ones. try deleting your settings config file for sto and start up sto and see if its fixed.

EDIT2: forgot to mention when you did a clean install of the drivers did you use Driver Sweeper to get rid of the remaing files from the ati card (to reduce chance of driver conflict)

Even with the Nvidia drivers shadows have to be kept on low. This is a known problem with the Nvidia cards and STO. There is a huge forum thread about it and Nvidia mentions the problem in their driver documentation. I run a 460 with everything but shadows maxed and it looks great. I'd just update your drivers from the Nvidia site, launch STO, set everything to max (except shadows) and enjoy. :D

Here is the shadow issue thread:

Its up to 15 pages now.

Nope that is not the Problem cause i HAVE the newest 270.61 driver. And all works fine as long i do not reboot after completly reinstalling these Nvidia drivers. it is reproducable.
And it's not only the shadows. As you can see on my screenshot in the first thread there are serveral additional options disabled.

    But i'll check the thread.

I'm not saying the shadows are your only problem, I'm just saying that no matter what you do, they will continue to be a problem. Didn't want you to beat your head against a wall trying to fix the currently unfixable.

Well ok might be a problem. But Why do it work after reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers? In my Fleet Nobody with a NVIDIA Card seems to have a problem with shadows.

But ok well so i won't reboot and keep my win7 in standby mode.

Glad to see you got it resolved, but ye there could of been a driver conflict between them and the nvidia driver set. contact ASUS and just notify them of this for now i guess and check thier forums.
