6850 - 16:9 resolutions borked.

BIt of a problem with the game; some of the 16:9 resolutions don't work properly. Selecting 1360x768 or 1600x900 results in the display image stretching outside the borders of the monitor on both sides, enough to cut off the entire chat window and mission list.

The problem is that my GFX card isn't fast enough to manage high settings AND 1920x1080, so at the moment I'm stuck playing with 1280x720, which means horrible jaggies everywhere and not enough room for UI elements.

Anyone know a fix to get the other resolutions working properly?

For the record, the card is an XFX 6850 Black Edition, latest drivers.

have you tried setting it to auto or 16:10 for your screen type?

edit: also if you can set a custom resolution if you can to use with the game try it out. jaggies are eliminated with AA on.

I've used every setting, and now 1280x is borked sometimes as well. I don't know what you mean by the second part, there's no ingame option to set a resolution other than the dropdown list, and forcing it in Catalyst has no effect, and obviously I have AA on - 8xAA doesn't do that much for jaggies at lower resolutions.

Also, the support for this game is an absolute JOKE - ingame help is only for ingame issues, the live chat is only for account issues, and the form which they keep directing me to just eats my attempts to input text without creating a ticket!

In what universe are technical issues which may be preventing someone from playing the game any less important than account issues?

Are you doing this on a TV instead of a monitor? If so, there is a setting to correct this in your TV's display setting. On my Samsung 52" 1080P LCD in the Picture menu, I have an option cqalled Just Scan. If I use this, ir corrects my laptops 16X9 resolution because it does seem to do what you're describing regardless of whether the notebooks 18.4" screen is the same resolution and Aspect Ratio.

Nope, it's a 24" BENQ PC monitor. I also went through the monitor menues at the time, and all I can do is manually correct the vertical pixel problem on 1280x, but only sometimes.

I did notice one thing; the black bars that appear and stretch the image on the 1360x and 1600x resolutions? They're exactly the same as the ones which show up during the "warp in" animation when you arrive in a system.

Anyway, I finally got a ticket into their godawful system, I'll just have to hope they reply soonish, and with something useful.

A 6850 should be able to handle 1920x1080 at high settings. My 5850 can do 1920x1200 without a problem.

Two questions: Does this monitor have an HDMI input? Do any other games or applications have scaling issues?
