massive server lag and not responding errors AND drops.

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I and many others have been getting massive server lag and not responding errors AND drops.

the "server not responding" errors I've been getting have been on average 150 seconds. then a few moments of movement then more "server not responding" errors... and after several of them, I sometimes get dropped altogether.

I asked around and apparently it's a lot of people getting this but not all.

how to fix?

please fix!

grrr... I will now go to bed.. g'night STO.

Having similar issues, SNR, getting dropped on map moving, and very few drops, especially on my KDF toon.

I've had the same problem for the last couple of days, despite my connection running as best as it ever has for... pretty much everything else. I've tried all sorts of things, from modifying my firewall, changing game settings and... nothing. Still getting the DCs.

Ironically, the game ran great when I demoed it. (Only two lost connections over as many days, each under a minute each.) Then I bought the full version and all this started. And no, I don't think it's a conspiracy or anything, I actually do find it kind of funny, in a very frustrating way. I'm just trying to patiently find a fix.

Is there any chance this could be related to the Extra Numbers of People on for the Specials, and all of the Extra Activity in Sector Space?

Moved you guys over to PC/Tech. Sounds like something bigger than a little bug.

Same deal for me, however I can for sure point out that my issues started with the rerun. So far it seems nothing has been done to correct this issue so I went ahead an started posting my screen shots an in-game lag vids on as many social, video gaming and game purchase forums and websites I can find as well as G4tv and MMOreports Tv programs. Hopefully a little bad press will light a fire under someones rear to get on the ball!

Glad I'm not the only one. Worked fine yesterday morning (UK Time). Last night I started to get dropped every few minutes. Tried this morning ans sadly the same is still happening.

Should have done this before I posted. I ran the traceroute command (tracert) to see where my packets were being dropped. I was getting a lot of timeouts before I left the UK. About five minutes ago I ran traceroute again and everything was looking okay apart from one timeout in Washington DC. I've played about three minutes of STO and not been kicked out yet.

So my problem looked like ISP troubles. BT must have been having troubles last night.

I've been having these issues since Tuesday, both in STO and CO. Every other game is fine.
My tracert seems to start hitting issues when it gets to the provider "cogentco.com" right before it gets to Cryptic.

I as well have been dealing with massive server lag. Sometimes it's just 10 seconds at a time, but often enough it's 40 to 60 seconds. Pretty frustraiting :(

This is happing to me massive lag. I even upgrade my card thinking it may be on my end when the tech told me "well the card and the rest of you cpu look good if you already ran the game for a over a year np then that sound like there server" well not in so many word. But thats what iv been thinking the last three days well at least I got a nice graphic card out of it. No but really its bad that there is not much of a game but to lag out as well thats no good. I deal with the al the bad and good this game offers. But if I cant play then I cant pay.

I haven't played STO since about 6 months after it first launched. I am a lifetime subscriber. Decided its a holiday weekend, i'm bored, lets patch and see what happens.

Lost connection during the patch process about 12 times. It reconnected every time and I finally made it through.

Once connected, it was running terribly buggy and the ship would skip around as I tried to do things. Lost connection a couple time.

Wow .. I cannot believe this long after launch and there is still a lag issue. I've been playing wow CATA with abosluty no issues, net is running at 110% as far as speeds. i7 w 4 gigs of memory, ati 4650 vid card. Computer is running with no issues (not slow, no spyware, etc).

What is with this lag? Was I mistaken to buy a lifetime LOL? All I wanna do is play the game without lag Cryptic!!!!

What am I doing wrong..? Are there ports I need to specifically open on my router?! Maybe I'll drop myself in the DMZ and see if that helps...
