Something odd happened

I recently rep;laced my old computer when it died, and got my new to make sure i could run sto on max graphics, major improvement in to the game being able to do that. I have had 0 problems say one. I was alt tabbing out of the game to look at something, and when i attempted to go back into the game a error message came up. Something about lack of video memory, and believe me this was not possible, and to make matters more confusing it was reading my video card as a nividia, not a ATI.

With the recent issues with ATI video cards, when it comes to sto, i figured i should post this.

I got a similar issue with my computer. The game always crashes when Alt-Tabbing. Try playing in maximized window mode insted of fullscreen. That worked for me. ;)

If you run Vista or Win7, try disabeling the windows aero theme when STO is running.

There might be some sort of resource issue between your drivers/hardware/game/aero.

Remember to reply if it has removed your issue, so that others might benefit from it too.

Well i was going to wait to talk to my brother, because i am a noob, when it comes to windows 7. The other thing is i have been able to alt tab out the last four times i have tried without a crash. When i talk to my brother ill go from there and post my results here.

Never had this issue but incorrect GPU detection is something that stands out. Do you have any other games installed that have the nVidia logo and PhysX on the box or when you start the game? Games with this tend to install PhysX drivers and TRIBBLE that can cause issues with ATI software and drivers. Check and remove the nVidia TRIBBLE, folders, etc and reinstall your drivers.

No i dont have any other Nividia games installed on my pc, the only one i do is star trek online. The funny thing is though is i think i found a way to resolve the issue. For me i got dual monitors, one old one from my last pc, and a new one with this pc. I got my brother to show me how to use them correctly ingame, so i do not think i will have this issue again. I would love to uninstall the nivida TRIBBLE off my computer, but i really wouldn't know how to go looking for it. If it is on my pc. I have been using windows 7 for less then a month. I want to help, its just the things your suggesting is in over my head, and i would rather not mess my new pc up.
