This is inevitably going to go political. *facepalm*

I do find it ironic that a character created to mock all of the primary ideals of the National Socialist Party in Germany and more or less stick it to them is now this all-accepting... *shudders* Liberal.

But now who will fight for truth, justice, and the American way?

I believe that's what the Military is for.

    Also, Colbert

ideal doesn't always = not created by. Thanks for knowing the difference.

I know what you were saying..

You said he was created to mock some of national socialist Ideals..
I was pointing out that, early on, he actually shared some of them..

Superman's early strips were actually pro-public/social policies. Anyone who didn't realize Superman was highly political must've missed out on Jerry Siegel's earliest strips. He pretty much fights bankers and profiteers for the early decades. He's anti-big business.

    Superman's the quintessential immigrant story.

It's funny that a comic character created by a Canadian is an all-American.

Well, Canada is a part of North America. But anyways, while I sometimes appreciate the correlation of comic events and real events, I think sometime it goes way too far. Issues of war and protest just feel weird when you start adding super powered beings to the mix. A 'peak' level human is one thing, but someone who can fly or lift 100 tons...melt tanks with their minds or whatever...it all picks apart my suspension of disbelief.

I prefer my super heroes fighting super villains. They can have moral or ethical conflict as well, but also prefer for that to be contained within a smaller societal circle. I know it's a matter of preference, but too many worldy events in comics just expose the naivety of the daily lives of super heroes.

Just give me Superman punching Brainiac!
