My apartment's power went out this morning [while I was still asleep, so I had no idea...lol], but, when I woke up, I saw that absolutely everything was off (lights, alarm clock, DVD player, TV, Internet...), so, naturally, I was a little confused.
Although about ten seconds later, I realized it was a blackout. lol
Luckily I had a corded phone in my room, so I called the Property Manager and asked them what was going on; they told me the power was out in half of the building, but they didn't know when it would be fixed.
The weirder thing was, after my mom came home, I told her about it and we'd later learned that, not only was the fridge working, but the TV in the living room was, too...naturally, again, we were confused.
At about 4 o'clock, I called the Property Manager again and wanted to get an update on the situation. They told me that the Metro guys were there and investigating and it should be fixed soon. I'd let her know that some electronics worked, but some didn't, though, since she was only the Property Manager, she didn't know why. (naturally, I figured she wouldn't; I just thought she might've been told by the Metro guys when they came to investigate the problem).

But the good news is, around 4:30, we got an announcement from the Superintendent who said they were shutting down the power to the whole building and that it should be back on by 6:30.
It actually came on at about 5:30-ish.

Needless to say, even though we got our power back quickly [and were made aware of any updates going on], I still frickin' hate blackouts.

I have a corded phone (from the early 90s) in a box just for such occasions (I recently took it out and cleaned it off (almost two decades of dust and who-knows-what is not what I want near my face). I put it in a large ziplock freezer bag when I was done to keep the dust off).
