So my girlfriend's nine year-old bugged me to let him play STO. I let him make a character on my account, and he picked it up quick. Last week I bought him his own copy of the game and he now plays on his own account. Yesterday he tells his mom and I that he wants to learn to speak Klingon. Went to Half Priced Books this evening, and found him a copy of The Klingon Way: A Warrior's Guide, which is written in both English and Klingon.
He's so much into it, he fell sleep with it in his hands tonight lol. Now I have to hunt down a copy of the book that teaches the language.
That's awesome. My 7 and 4 year old are new Trekkie's also. I also have them sitting and watching Dr.Who with me as well. every Saturday we watch 2 old episodes of Dr.Who on PBS...going through the 1st Dr. Also going through the ToS with them.
Always great to have a new generation of fans. History Channel has done a couple shows highliting how pivotal star trek was in inspiring people to become scientists growing up and now the first couple generations of star trek fans have created some of the most pivotal advances in tech and science of the new century. Did you know how the original communicator led to the creation of the cell phone? Its true.
As for teaching the little captain klingon. Troll around half.com its a sister site to ebay that is great for finding books. Here is a couple titles for him to sink his teeth into.
Klingon for the galactic traveler by Mark Okrand (the best is the updated 1997 version)
