Dual monitor problem, secondary monitor dim when STO is running

I having a problem with my dual monitor set up that I can't figure out.

Problem: With STO on the primary monitor (doesn't matter if full screen, full screen windowed, or windowed), the secondary monitor is dimmed quite a bit. If I click on something on the secondary monitor, STO dims on the primary monitor. It dims to the point that browsing is barely visible and video's can't be watched. Likewise, if I'm browsing, STO is very dark but still somewhat visible.

The problem only occurs when STO is running. I can run any other application or game fine with both monitors running normally.

My system: Intel Core i5 and Nvidia GT240 graphics card. Two 19" LCD monitors, one connected via DVI and one via VGA adapter. I have the latest Nvidia drivers for the graphics card.

Any ideas?

I'll send a bottle of Romulan Ale from my private stash to anyone that can help!

Cheers,

10to1

So I've been playing around and now believe this is an autodimming function in Windows 7 since the same thing happens on my laptop.

Can't for the life of me figure out how to disable it.

Have you checked your Gamma settings in game?

I run dual monitors and have not noticed this issue. Hope that Win7 thing you mentioned fixed it for you

Thanks TalonSin and devast8tor for the suggestions.

I'm still having this issue and have ruled out the Windows 7 thought I had. I can't put my finger on it, but I think this is related to my video card and DX11 somehow. More Googling is in order.

I'll have a look at the gamma settings when I log on later tonight and post an update.
