Seriously, who gives a damn. The American News media certain would like you to think everyone is making a big deal over it but i have yet to met anyone in America who cares. Do the Brits even care?

    Thank God for Netflix.

If I recall correctly, Americans opposed the crown twice. So why would we care if they/when get married? Besides, isn't the monarch completely powerless now? Why is being royal so important?

But to answer your question, I didn't care when Clinton got married; I don't care now.

Two rich people getting hitched. Yeah, no I got better things to do.

Kinda reminded of when Princess Di passed away. Let me preface this with saying it was sad, tragic and absolutely horrible that the UK lost the People's Princess... but the three-days of music, funeral parades and remembering her on just about every channel really got abrasive. I really don't even know if many Americans even knew who she was.

To be fair I sort of feel the same way about 9/11. Yes it was a horrific tragedy, but there have been other terror attacks all over the world, and hardly anybody remembers those. The only reason 9/11 is even in the public conciousness is because it happened on American soil.

The death toll was higher than the attack on pear harbor, a military action. Maybe that might cause it to stick out like a sore thumb, or at least more so than some cafe bombing in Tel Aviv. Or it could be that it caused the longest war in modern history. Me I dont think its because it happened on American soil, I think its because it was the biggest attack made to date, possibly for the rest of history. But personally, it sticks out because it happed in my neck of the woods to people I know. So maybe I'm biased.

I concur. The smoke from it reached here, I did volunteer work there with my fire department and moreover 3000+ = not 1, no matter how good that one is.

BUT. I will say this. I believe it is because of the whole fairytale mentality that seems to have settled around royal families... which I don't understand. I mean really, hereditary rule, monarchies and the like, have they ever done anything good? Let people have their escapism, sure beats Jersey Shore for a change and it may even lead to some being more cultured.

I'm pretty sure I won't even really care about my own wedding. Half an hour before the ceremonies begin, I'll still be sitting on my couch in my Iron Man pajamas, drinking a coke and watching reruns of Supernatural. :D

Hm... Starting to see why I broke up with the last poor fool who went out with me. For one, she didn't like my Iron Man pajamas...

As to the wedding thing, I listen to the BBC so I keep hearing a fair amount about stuff kind of related to it. I don't really care one way or another. Seeing a resurgence of a Monarchy in GB or the EU in general would be very interesting thing to watch though.

I'm a Brit, I shall be avoiding this day like the plague, so much so that the day before i'm heading for Germany to go to a convention for the entire weekend, so aim to have a good time there, with no TV and plenty of booze, I shall escape this media circus of a wedding.....if it goes as the last few have i'll give it a few years before their divorce makes front page news and gets blasted around every TV on the planet.

I'm a Brit and like many others - I DO NOT CARE. The only 'good' thing about it is the Bank Holiday we get from it, but aside from that it's another media circus of cack...

Although I've heard reports of people camping out in London ALREADY for the wedding. I'm so glad I have a 'life' (okay, it's not much).

It's about time in my honest opinion that the whole monarchy thing just buggered off over here, it's horribly out of date and so out of touch with your Joe or Jane Public that it served its purpose centuries, if not decades ago... but not now.

Now I jump off the box and get my TRIBBLE back to work :)

While I personally dont care about the wedding, Id say its in the country's best interests to take notice of the things that can possibly affect the government of our greatest ally o.O

That's just Hoplite's usual setting. ;) But he does have a point; what does the wedding of pair who will be nothing more than a figurehead with little to no political power when they're crowned (or if they get the crown; I've heard some rumbling Parliment is/has considered disolving the monarchy) have to do with the government?

Well, as I said, America established our level of support for the Crown ~235 years ago. I love you England, but you can understand why we don't care about what your elites do.

The English royal family has become the equivalent of Disney World. A nice tourist attraction which sells a lot of t-shirts.

Next up: The Buckingham Palace Reality TV show!

From reading some of the posts here, and from my discussions with some of my old Seibertron/RDD friends from the UK, the Brits don't care much about their royal family either. (My guess is the Scots, Irish, and Welsh haven't cared for a lot longer...)
