ATCTF (TFF) Uniform Contest!

edited May 2011 in Ten Forward
Ladies and Gentlemen.

The Bank is well stocked. The dust is beginning to settle. The annoying squeek from deck 3 has finally been sorted.

Ten Forward fleet members, now has come the time to select our new uniform! SaintHazard managed the old contest, but seeing as that fleet is now (to us) dead, it seems appropiate as the 'lurker' in comparison to the normal admins does it. Well, it'll give me an excuse as an Admin to do something useful!

Rules
  • It can be any uniform in the game that's accessible to everyone. This does not include the WoK, TNG (Series) or TOS uniforms which must be bought.
  • Your uniform entry MUST be an actual uniform. No off-duty clothes.
  • You are limited to ONE entry only. If you are posting multiple uniform styles, please specify the EXACT one you are submitting. You may not change your mind after you have specified your submission.
  • You many submit multiple uniforms for different departments, e.g. Command, Science, Engineering etc.
  • You are free to use whatever combadge you wish as most people will have their preferred version that they use.
  • You may post as many screenshots as you deem appropiate, but it will not affect judgement.
  • Screenshots of the tailor window giving colour schemes are recommended so that me or one of the fellow admins may re-create the uniform for the fleet, exactly as you have done.
  • The contest runs from now (10/04/2011) for the period of 2 weeks (25/04/2011) as I will allow an extra 'day' due to the fact I am European and most members are American.
  • Non-fleet members are also invited to submit their entries.

So fly, fly my pretties and go off tailoring!

Now that the time to submit entries is over, please go to the polling station and vote!

Here's mine. The uniform is Starfleet-1-B top, TNG Split bottom, and Combat Boots with a gold combadge and ranking emblems. A varient of this uses the Wrath of Khan belt.

The main color of the top uniform, the pants, and the main portion of the boots are the same. The outiline of the uniform and the sides of the boots are the same color. If using the belt, the color of the belt itself is the same color as shoulders and bottom of the boots. The buckle is 4 Left of center yellow, or closest match to gold of the emblem. Both will be my entry. If requested, I'll work up another version so thy can be used as Tactical/Science/Engineering uniforms.

The below links are the belted and unbelted varients of the uniform, both of which are in different colors to illustrate how the colors correspond with each of the parts mentioned above.

Actually the uniforms won't necessarily have to be recreated from scratch by an Admin.

The winner will be able upload a saved uniform file to the fleet uniform tab if the character has permission to change fleet uniforms, which can be easily setup no matter what fleet rank they are. Uniforms actually have to be uploaded from a saved file or directly from what a character is wearing anyhow.

I'll probably drop an entry in here a bit later.

My uniforms, carried over from the previous contest!

All uniforms have black pants, black boots, a gold commbadge, and a white turtleneck undershirt. Each division has a specific color assigned to it which affects the color of their jacket.

    Red is for command:
    Male Command
    Female Command
    Female Command variant

Since most of us command a starship, we would be using the Red Command uniform. I will however also post some variants I use on my crew and others may want to use as their uniform if they want to be a bit more specialized or do not want to be Command.

    Yellow is Operations and Engineering
    Male Operations
    Female Operations

    Blue for Sciences
    Female Science
    Male Science

    Teal for Medical
    Male Medical
    Female Medical

    Orange for Cadets
    Female Cadet
    Male Cadet

The upper uniform is shirt A4 color scheme 1. Pants are Loose Pants->Standard. Boots are Short Boots. Skirt for female variant is Tight Skirt with stockings and TOS boots.

Shirt colors are either red, yellow, blue, teal, or orange 8, white undershort (last color, IIRC), and black otherwise. Pants are black. Boots are black. Commbadge is gold.

The idea is to create a functional and comfortable uniform that still expresses style well into the 25th century. It is organized, but not too military as a tribute to Gene Roddenberry.

Alright so here are my entries. . .

    Female Three Angle Command

    Male Three Angle Command

    Male and Female Operations

    Male and Female Sciences

The top is the TNG movie, which was one of the base uniforms available from launch. I was really fond of the combined look of the dark blue and tan on the KDF side uniforms I did so I went with that for the fed side as well. The shirts under the jacket are used to show the three basic Fed departments. . . Command, Operations, and Sciences.

The bottoms are the standard TNG series pants in black and the shoes are the 'soft' boots.

If you're unsure which pieces can be used for fleet uniforms anything that has an Atari token next to them whether checked or not cannot be used for fleet Uniforms. Also the names of the base pieces that everyone has access to are tinted light blue in the costume editor.

The Wrath of Kahn Uni may be an exception, but I'm not sure on that. . . I'll do a quick check in a bit to see if the pieces can be used or not.

Update: Wrath of Kahn Uniform pieces are not allowed to be loaded on a fleet uniform.

I must have misread the OP the first time I read it because I thought the contest included the WoK but now it doesn't.

Some nice designs so far. I recognize Raven's comes from the old TF Fleet; and why couldn't we use the old one? :D

Becuase that doesn't give choice. It's essentially a new fleet with only the title and most members the same.

Copying over the old uniforms seems to be a case of "we don't care now we have a new fleet bank and Hazard isn't boss" in my eyes.

Thanks for starting this thread Dawson. The new entries look good. Going to be some tough choices to make. Just thought I'd toss out the suggestion made by others that we could include the new fleet logo contest in this thread as well. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak.

As much as I like the "old" uniforms, depending on what else is offered, I may vote for sharprifle's version when it comes time.

How long are you guys taking submissions anyway? And did someone come up with a logo yet?

I know I've heard others talk about coming up with a logo, but no submissions have been made yet. If Dawson doesn't want to host the fleet logo contest here I can make a thread for it myself.

Hey, as long as it's different from the one our Klingon counterpart uses.

I'd suggest keeping them seperate, so feel free, Corban-sensai. :p

Also....isn't the ingame logo limited to a variety of colours and shapes?

Yea the pieces can't be loaded in as a fleet uniform. Even though Cryptic essentially gave the WoK uniforms away to everyone it's counted as an optional uniform like all the ones that you buy in the C-Store and therefore not everyone may have it so it's not a valid choice. Trying to use WoK pieces will just replace them with a valid default piece in a fleet uniform.

Yeah; I would have loved to have loaded this old insignia into a fleet logo, but apparently it's not an option. Probably a good thing for Cryptic in this case, as the lawyers at Hasbro would have had a field day with it...

That sucks! It would be nice if Cryptic could limit the fleet options based on what each uniforms have available to its fleet members. So... if everyone had the WoK, that would open up the option to use those pieces as well and the same for others. We really need more CommBadge and uniform choices for the fleets I think.

I remember somewhere one of the devs said they are planning on expanding the uniforms allowed for fleets, but no idea when that will happen.

    EDIT:
Ok, here's my entry. Mine is more of a dress uniform.

    Standard Male

    Teh Sexay Version
Not leagal because of pieces used but players can modify it themselves if they want. otherwise female version is same pieces as male.

Okay, I decided to have a go at it. Here's my attempt at a uniform.

    Standard Male

I have to say, I'm quite proud of how it came out. It just seems like something I could see us wearing. We would be the best dressed fleet in the game!

For the duration of the contests, I have added the Set Uniforms and Emblem to all ranks. This is to allow everyone within the fleet to have the opportunity to create something for the contest. For your uniform entry, please make sure it meets strict boring requirements Cryptic has left us a lack of for fleet uniform options. Best of luck to everyone who enters!

Alrighty, after my little bit of fun, I decided to have a real go at making a uniform. I'm pleased with how it came out. I used B-01 for the uniform. The pants are the TNG Spitbottom, which I believe is a default option.

I included Blue and Teal versions of the Medical and Science uniforms. I usually prefer the Teal, personally, but I know some people like the Blue or just like making a distinction between the two divisions.

    Here we go:

    Command Red

    Captain's White Variant

    Engineering/Ops/ext Gold

    Medical/Science Blue

    Medical/Science Teal

All colours are from the Cannon Colour thread, though I prefer the pure black all the way at the bottom left. The white I used is the fourth from the right on the bottom row.

Command : Red Row - 8th from Left
Engineer : Gold Row - 10th from Left
    Med/Sci : Teal Row - 10th from Left
    Med/Sci : Blue Row - 8th from Left

Well, think that about covers it.
