Intel Celeron Processers OK for STO?

Hey all,

Newbie poster who is also in the market for a new gaming system on a budget specifically to play STO.

Are Celeron processors adequate to play the game effectively?

I am looking at a Intel Celeron Dual Core 2.5 Ghz, 2GB RAM, 500 GB HD space for around $280 USD.

I will need to purchase a video card as well so any recommendations on a card for under $75 that would get me the best bang for my buck for STO would be appreciated!

This game is often very CPU intensive. I wouldn't reccomend going with a Celeron based CPU if you're hoping to get a good experience in the game.

It'll work, but it won't be great. If you saved up a bit more and went with a non-celeron dual core, you'd be happier and the price difference isn't that much if I remember correctly.

Okay first Celeron processors are NEVER okay! If you are buying an Intel buy nothing below an i3 and for AMD nothing less than an Athlon II. Durons and Celerons are JUNK for gaming.

Next, while the site mentioned to see if your system can play a game is technically correct, do not use it as a standard. It does not test your system at all, all it does is see if your hardware matches the database entry for the game.

If you have a specific system in mind post the info here and we can help you as to if it will run the game well or not.
