Ok. So on April 9th...I am going to participate in my first tournament.

I will be doing 2 events...Sparring and Kata/Forms.

I'm not nervous...yet...But I am looking forward to this.

I've been taking this form of Kenpo for about 9 months now. But lately my Sense has been teaching us Shotokan and Goju Shorei as well....We've been doing Shotokan drills until our legs feel like they are about to fall off....hehe

Hopefully...My Sensei will have us (My 2 sons and I) ready for the big ISKA tournament in Orlando next year...Not going to be ready for that kind of tournament until then....He used to do all the big tournaments back in the 70s and 80s....(Yes...Ravegirl...Those decades *DID* exist)

I just got back from Academy Sports to pick up my very own sparring gear....so I think I am ready. :D

It's an open tournament....so if any martial artists are near Northwest Arkansas...let me know...I might be able to get you some info....There are 2 tournaments a year...

My kids have done these tournaments. My oldest has done 2, and my 5 year old, this will be his second. Both brought home trophies. My 5 year old...in his first tournament placed 1st in both sparring and kata...I am so proud of him. He's a great little martial artist....

The last Tournament in October...my Sensei sent 10 kids....and we came back with 21 trophies. Pretty darn good if you as me. :D

remember the most important thing is to win at all costs, and crush all that oppose you....then plant a flag in the middle of the battlefield and eat the hearts of your enemies.....wait was was the fight about again?

Sounds right to me. Better wear something that's already red though Sural. Oh and break a leg. Many of them!
