So, I was only curious how many subscribers are on STO. I do not know where these figures are from but what does 60k means in the word of MMOs. I see that the game picked at over 100k subscribers as well but dropped by about half. The last data point is from mid-2010, so I don't know how true 60k is. I can only hope that Dstahl and team's work will pay off and bring more people to this game. I know I am one how came back a month ago and really enjoys it again. For cause, I will let my yearly renew this week-end. Some way of promoting the game or for us to help promote it as well?

two data points is kind of useless unfortunately. and we cant tell a thing about how the game is doing today.

also, you linked the wrong chart.

Tabula Rasa doesn't seem to be doing so well....

Honestly, there is no way to know if these are right, wrong or even in the ballpark. All we can do is look around while we play. I see lots of ships in all the sectors, so things seem to be alright to me.

    1) Tabula Rasa was shut down over a year ago.

    2) There ARE NO hard figures anywwhere for STO subscriotion data. Any site that claims otherwise is full of it and it just making a guess based on anicdotal reports that have zero validity whasoever.

    I know. I was joking

I totally agree. The listed site seems to be providing "hard data" which I don't believe they have. It's probably a series of guesses in chart/graph form.

Charts from the exact site in question have been displayed here on and off for the past year, and STO seems to remain around the 60k on that site at all times.

Now I do not know if you're a long time member or not, but thoose of us that are, should be able to agree that the playerbase has grown in STO for the past few months, after the implementation of both Season 2, 3 and the weekly episodes.

There are more ships flying around, more people in ESD and other hubs. Now I know that the cap for number of people in social maps have been increased, but taking into account that the number of instances remain about the same as before, it is safe to assume that there are more players now, than 6 months ago.

As others have stated, the page is geussing random numbers. I can say that with almost 100% certainty, cause Cryptic has several times made it clear, that they do not share info about their active supscriptions.

Best action is to just ignore them.

    Sub numbers are subjective anyway.

Each game has goals they want to achieve for the number of subs. However most of them don't make the goal or even the numbers public...unless they want to brag about it like Blizzard does with WoW.

You can't even do that accurately because of microtransactions anymore. :P

This is probably closest to truth. 50,000 may be a failure to one MMO but be a success to another. At the end of the day, once labor, utilities, and equipment are taken out, as long as a MMO is making a profit it should still stick around for a while.
