How important is it to watch the TOS in episode order?

I have never watched the TOS, only clips here and there. I had already queued up the TOS and Voyager to be next on my long run of eps to watch via Netflix. Then I saw that the BD set that Im getting shows the eps in order of air date, and not their proper episode order. I found this site http://www.trektoday.com/episodes/tos/ that seems to show the proper order. Well, at two BDs at a time, its going to get a bit tricky to watch them properly. Im noticing The Cage, which I just saw for the first time in so long it was new to me (via You Tube), but not in the BD set. So, to pull it off, i may have to send BDs back, then requeue them again to watch them in proper chronologiccal order. But, how important is that? I know for sure I want to watch the eps in the right order as it pertains to what happened to Pike. I know he gets hurt and sent back to the Tholians. So, all the eps at the beginning of the series, I want to try and see in order. Being the canon TRIBBLE that I am, that is important to me. What say you?

Talosians, not Tholians. Sorry about the correction by the way

I watched the shows in the order of the episodes that I most liked. So Mirror Mirror came first, then it was the Ultimate Computer and so on and so on with the best ones first

    Talosians, not Tholians.

getting those mixed up could lead to a ....diplomatic incident.

Over-all, the series was horribly episodic. It doesn't really matter what order you watch them in.

However, I do recommend you watch the Cage, then each season in order.

Truly. It does not matter. Even the cage could be watched last and you really wouldn't be any less in the know about whats going on.

If you're going to watch "The Cage" (the original pilot with many different principle characters), I'd watch that first, then "Where No Man Has Gone Before" (since it has different uniforms and looks "older"), but after that just watch the seasons together (all Season1, then all Season 2, etc) and it'll probably be fine.

Purists would say watch them in episodic order (and there's nothing wrong with that) but it is not required as they don't reference other episodes (or things that happened inother episodes) very often. "Errand of Mercy" is a one exception, as the Organian Peace Treaty did come up in "The Trouble With Tribbles" IIRC.
