Gameclient.exe crashing non stop (even in safemode)

Every few minutes I am suffering from gameclient.exe crashing

boot up the machine, start sto, slect toon, and crash......rinse /repeat

the support ticket guys seem to be useless after a weeks worth of correspondence.
I keep getting silly answers like my cpu/gpu r over heating.......NO **** SHERLOCK...but what the customer is wondering is " Why is your game making my system overheat?"

so here is the deal

dynamic lighting is set to off
graphics settings are set to minimum
game is running in safe mode

windows 7 64
AMD phenom II X6 1055T
ASUS M4A88TD-v
8 GB DDR3 ram
nvidia gts 450
1k watt cooler master PSU
case cooler master HAF
HDD 1TB Hitachi

all these alone are more than enough for this little game at high graphics...(and low graphics in safe mode)
and then for cooling we have the following:

front fans x 2 blowing inward....
side fan blowing inward onto the mainboard
back fan at the top blowing outward
top fan...big 200mm fan blowing outward
psu is at teh bottom rear of the case blowing out and down

********************** ^
************** big fan |
************** _________
************** |************* | -> fan
**front******* |************* | back
************** |************* |
********fan -> |**************|
************** |**************|
********fan -> |*******|psu| |
****************
************************** |
**************************V

and the side fan blowing inward.....

now while running other games on high grafix the computer blows out colder air than it intakes ....always...without exception

dragon age
sc2
wow
oblivion
total war napolean/empire
sins

my drivers r up to date I just checked them yesterday again to verify that they were up to date.....cuz thats the only other thing the cryptic techs can copy paste besides "your overheating"

I beat the required system components...i smash the recommended system components....this game should not be making my cpu, gpu over heat.......

following the advice of the support copy/paste tech....i ran the game on safe mode....upon load in i got .....you guessed it "gameclient.exe CRASH"

in addition to this about every 4th crash results in corrupted files that have to be verified....

any help on this matter would be appreciated, and yes i saw the other posts on gameclient.exe crashing....but they have an error 404 when i click on them so there we have it....

L1:
mov eax, ebx
add ecx, 1
loop1

y duz it never end..............

CRYPTIC: "its clearly an over heating issue"

nice response cryptic.......too bad it doesn't even make any sense.........

Greetings, Since you have the latest video card driver installed and a qualifying video card, it seems that your higher end hardware is encountering problems by pushing your system beyond its control when running the game. Your CPU and/or GPU may be overheating due to various circumstances, as per your mentioned symptoms. Unfortunately, we cannot provide support on this directly. However, you will need to consult the documentation for your hardware for the specific steps and guidelines for taking these steps: GPU-related overheating: * Contact your video card manufacturer for support * Disable any GPU overclocking * Ensure that they have the latest version of their video driver, and that the particular version does not have any known issues with overheating CPU-related overheating: * Check your BIOS to ensure that your processor is running at a safe temperature * Disable any overclocking * Make sure that PC cooling devices, such as fans, are operating optimally General overheating: * Gently air-dust any accumulated dust off the system peripherals. * Ensure air pathways are not blocked and have good amounts of room for air circulation. Sincerely, Atari Support

SO since im not overclocked.....and i built the machine less than 3 weeks ago i shouldnt have any dust....(shall i send u a pic of the reciept?........and i meet all the required/recommended settings..........your brilliant answer to my issue is

    ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

that my computer is too advanced to run your game without overheating???

oh and that I should check the bios and make sure my cpu/gpu r not too hot.....ya thats some awesome support....

I have a suggestion for you: When you write your refresh loops try and make sure that you do the following

    initialize a counter
modify the counter within the loop body
and make sure you have a check on that counter.....

SO IT SEEMS THAT I FOUND A SOLUTION TO THE ISSUE ON MY OWN AMONG OTHER FOLKS RANTS ABOUT THE GAMES DESIGN.....APPARENTLY CRYPTIC FORGOT TO INCLUDE A LOOP COUNTER ON THEIR REFRESH LOOP....

    /MAXFPS 60

    SEEMS TO CLEAR IT UP.......MORONS

one of the things srtting max fps to 60 is too limit overheating by limiting the frame rate.

Ty captain obvious for that stunning report

Anyways the point im making is that i shouldnt have to tell the program
To set a max framerate, this game should not be causing a gpu that is
Clearly beyond even cryptics recommended speed to try and render
So many frames per second that it over heats

Clearly there is a bad piece of code in the game that is causing the gpu
To try and render a fps without any limit

    ie infinite frame rate

and just because someone builds a pc, it may only mean all they know is how to turn a TRIBBLE and connect plugs. and nothing about airflow dynamics.

PS. I have no problems with overheating and my frame rate is more than 60.

Um, the game CAN'T push any piece of hardware beyond it's limits. You either need to check your cooling system; or contact the manufacturer andinform them that the fan they provided is insufficient. If you claim you builft the machine yourse;lf, you should already know that often - manufacturer supplied cooling is insufficient if you purchase a high end game that makes more use of the card's available hardware.

In other words, it's not the software developers fault that you don't make sure your hardware can handle the load.

Crysis (and many other games like it) were accussed of thge same thing when they first came out years ago because they made full use of the hardware provided. Again, if you build and are up to date with the pitfalls of putting together a system, you would know that, again, if you're going to make full use of hardware; manufactuerer fans and other cooling sytstems are insufficient for high end games and that's why third party cooling solutions exist.

The fact is - STO currently has the most hardware intensive MMO graphics engine out there (in 2007, it was Age of Conan); again if you're as tech savy as you imply, take the steps needs to improve cooling, or lower your video settings to a level your cooling system can handle.

OK lets talk about cooling first.......you did look at teh fan diagram in my post b4 u went off about stock fans ya? how many more fans do you think I should need.........6 should be enough I think.......or mebbe i should get a water cooling setup to run STO.......(mebbe if 6 fans isnt enough that should be on the box)

(The fact is - STO currently has the most hardware intensive MMO graphics engine out there )

Then if a gts 450 isnt enough to run the game they should put that on the box along with 6 fans isnt enough cooling as well.

UM the very first sentence that you wrote is true......and that is my point.......since what you say is true then how can cryptic respond with this sentence....

Greetings, Since you have the latest video card driver installed and a qualifying video card, it seems that your higher end hardware is encountering problems by pushing your system beyond its control when running the game.

ARE YOU SAYING THAT THE SYSTEM IS SO HIGH END THAT TEH GAME LOSES CONTROL OF THE HARDWARE? THE OS LOSES CONTROL OF THE HARDWARE? THE HARDWARE LOSES CONTROL OF TEH HARDWARE?

" it seems that your higher end hardware is encountering problems by pushing your system beyond (((((what is "its" referring to???????(its)))) control "

you see what they are really saying is that they have no idea what-so-ever what is really wrong......so yes lets blame it on everything except poorly written code...lets say that it's not cryptics code lets blame Nvidia or AMD......

"IIf you eliminate the impossible(cryptic writing poor code), whatever remains, however improbable(AMD or Nvidia made a bad gpu or cpu that runs every other program under the sun without problems), must be the truth." Spock

srsly folks....all the games I run without overheating issues....running my machine as a wow server....no issues....then one program comes along and overheats my system resulting in windows dumping the program.......I think the common denominator is obvious!!!

SO calm down a notch fanbois....im not knocking the game, cuz I like it......I just want a real answer as to why my machine is overheating with this one program.......

seems if u google sto/champs online which r the same engine....and overheating u find a ton of reports and complaints about the poorly written code that cause teh gpu to try and refresh as though the refresh was in a infinite loop........hmm and then /maxfps 60 fixes it all of a sudden.......the gpu shouldnt be able to overheat 30 seconds into the game at the character selection screen....unless it was trying to refresh in an infinite loop..................

    THE LOGIC IS SIMPLE

    computer A runs program B
computer A over heats shortly after
    Program B is terminated
computer A returns to normal operating temperature
    program B is run again
    program B has a limiter set (/maxfps60)
    computer A no longer overheats

therefore without the limiter, program b must be asking computer A to refresh at a rate in which the gpu reaches a temperature threshold and terminates program b.....

what I want to know is why is program b asking the gpu of computer A to refresh at such a high rate?

So after we strip away all the confused ranting, we have the following symptoms:

    - brand new hardware
    - crashes as soon as full rendering starts

That'll be a hardware fault then. In future, write less and with greater clarity.
