I ment more along the lines of making forum threads directed at certian forum members. Some forums have rules against that. I wasn't talking about the open letter thing, lol.

Ah. Well, i guess you could read that into it if you wanted to, but that would be classified minimal obserance.
All posts are directed towards certain people, or none are.

This post it was just to clarify something that I have seen waaaaaaay too much lately, and that is 'open letter'. It is a kind of misnomer.

Is it really a letter if no envelope, paper or stamp is involved?

What could we call it instead?

What could we call it instead?

an open post? Surely the difference in median requires its own term.

I'm personally fond of "To whom it may concern".

But that lacks the special feeling an open letter gives me, lol

I always thought an open anything is open to alteration, but I find this isn't so. So in my mind, these posts aren't very open. I can't go in and change the OP as I please. ;)

We, as a group we should stop writing here, because WE as a group, should be playing WII, and while WE play WII, we should consider enjoying it because WE are the Borg, lower your shields and surrender your ships, WE will add your biological and technological distinctiveness (the WII) to our own...

Resistance is Futile, for we, when we play with the WII

    To whom it may concern:

Does it concern you that you may be the whom addressed?

Or are you concerned that you may not be that whom?

Or are you completely unconcerned about who the whom is?
