He is not entirely insane. The region has been under a tsunami warning due to the aftershocks on and off all day.

Even NHK is reporting nuclear problems, I'd love a link to it, they even downplay the volcano stirring up a bit.

NOAA still hasn't said anything about it.

Never mind, I see where one news agency reported it, and has been discredited.

Guardian reported it. No tsunamis have appeared, but there have been several false alarms.

Man, it never rains but pours.

My first instinct would be the obvious "Run like hell!" but seeing as how most of the boats and runways are mulched, not really all that plausible.

You misread that, sorry. I understand you are concerned but you need to keep a level head. You also need to keep to more than 1 source of news, it helps to keep bias out of what you read.

Also, you know what causes Tsunamis right? So why would there be another?

There have been aftershocks, some large, every day since the quake, but none thus far have created any kind of Tsunami. Baring an underwater landslide or the coast lifting up and setting itself down another eight feet in a different direction, that threat is somewhat... well not a threat.

I'd be more worried about radiation exposure considering the whole USS Ronald Regan reporting running through a cloud of fairly high radiation incident. While the odds of seeing something like a Chernobyl are very low (though somewhat possible if things go even worse, or more damage is incurred by another quake) I wouldn't wanna be anywhere near it. Having a comparable incident to 3 Mile Island is bad enough and all one can do is hope that the Cesium, Cadmium and Sea Water are enough to make the reactors stabilize. Though if it already melted down, good freaking luck getting close enough to the reactors themselves this millennium and coming back better of than Spock in TWoK.

There was a Godzilla sighting near Tokyo harbor...

(I mean with the way things are going would you really be surprised? Somebody give those folks a break.)

    • A very alarming tsunami warning this morning now appears to be a false alarm. Sirens along the coast sounded and television and radio alerts said officials had warned of a wave up to three metres high. The Japanese meteorological agency is now saying they believe it to be a false alarm and that there was no sign of a quake large enough to trigger a tsunami, although broadcaster NHK is apparently reporting that a helicopter pilot observed a large incoming wave.

Multiple sources cited. Boo. Yah. Like I said, fortunately it appears that they have been false alarms, but one can hardly blame the region for being more then a little twitchy about this incident. There have been several powerful aftershocks, so while another tsunami is highly unlikely, it is not impossible.

Besides, I was agreeing it was a false alarm, but SuperLink was not entirely incorrect when he posted his red alert of there being a tsunami watch.
