My game client crashes to desktop after I select my toon. The first crash occurred trying to Warp from Ker'rat to Qonos, & now i cannot log into the game.I have force verified my client twice. I sent a ticket,
any advice while I wait forever for it to be looked at?
So i reloaded my client, & the game worked for about 10 hours. now it broke again while joining an arena match.Any ideas?
I will not continue to pay for a game i have to patch for 8 hours to play for 10.
You don't happen to be using Panda Antivirus do you? Panda is known to corrupt the game because it locks files the game needs to update when running. Check for other programs that may be running in the background. Also, if you are using Vista or Windows 7, make sure you install to c:\users\public\games and not the Program Files folder as this is also known to corrupt the game.
i don't use panda, & the client is saved to games, I'll run another defrag, although i run one every week.
& now the game client crashes to desktop at completely random times, i can stay in game no more than 15 minutes. when it lets me log in at all.
EDIT-according to my troubleshooter, i have no issues with my computer at all

This is gooing to sound like a longshot; but I remember a few people experiencing this in the past - Is it possible one (or more) of your memory sticks might be having an issue? I remember a few people stating they had issues only in STO, and traced it to a failing stick (and it didn't show up in other areas as STO tends to make more full use of available hardware then most MMOs.)
I think Memtest86 (link) is accepted as a decent diagnostic tool in this situation.
If you already have something similar and have tried a really in depth diagnostic of your system, I'm stumped at this point; but again, I seem to recall people with similar intermittent issues tracing it down to a bad SIMM/DIMM module.

I'll give it a try, thanks for the help.
whats weird is, the game client will work sometimes for hours at a time, & then it crashes constantly, mostly when changing instance, but sometimes just sitting there in sector space. then it works for a couple of hours again. odd stuff.
Have you checked to make sure your graphics cards drivers are up to date? Checked to make sure your system isn't overheating? STO pushes GPU hardware quite a bit, so it can cause graphics cards to overheat easily.

well, its the same computer i've always used, & the auto update feature is on, I use a nvidea card, & its never given me problems.I do run with all graphics set to minimum, & all the bells & whistles turned off. I've never had an overheating problem, but maybe my fans gunked up, i'll check. It just strikes me as strange that almost all my crashes are when i change instance. again, thanks for the help guys, i'll clean out my fans later tonight & see if that helps.
OK, i feel like a total idiot here. I believe i have resolved the problem.
How? by rebooting my computer.:o
Yeah, I know.
Seems simple, but for some reason the idea never occurred to me.
I rebooted last night & everything is running ok so far.
So if this problem happens to you, try a reboot before you run screaming to the forum, & embarrass yourself like i did.

Wow. I know of people who leave their PCs up 24/7; bu I didn't think to ask as I assumed you weren't one of those folks or (given all you had installed and done to troubleshoot; had tried that already). But, in the end, glad you got the issues you were having resolved.
