Anyway, despite my recent annoyance about the mercenary bean-counters at Cryptic, I want the Vesta in-game in the /worst way/ and will gladly betray my principles to buy it.
Tactical flavoured science-ship, please, with a natty special ability. Probably the lowest turn rate of all the science ships given its size, so give it something nice to make up for that.
The Vesta was among the ships that is said to being looked at. And with the talk about Tier 6, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she will be indeed the Tactical oriented Science Ship at Tier 6.
Is it just me or more and more ships on the Federation side deviating from the overall feel and look of Star Trek? I mean... What ever happend to the "NECK" area? It seems that every ship designed after the Galaxy Class has lost the Neck and intergrated the Suacer with the Hull into one...
Don't get me wrong, some of these new ships look AWSOME, but they are loosing the overall Pattern, look and feel of Star Trek in my opinion.
When that "Design the new Enterprise-J" came out I wanted so much to take part, but because I live outside the United States I could not and I totally felt left out on expressing how I felt it should look like and had to suffer all those single hulled ships being entered and a lot of them where copies from other places anyhow, hope they sorted through those properly. It was a fest of Single Hulled Ships... Hhhhmmmm Shame really.
But I will say this again, most of the new ships look AWSOME! Sometimes I just want something more Classic though.
Afraid that's the modern trend regarding the evolution of Trek ships, where the neck is gone and the designs are getting larger and flatter at the same time.
But I'm sure there will always be a classic looking Federation ship in the future, but afraid she just might not be called Enterprise.
Is it just me or does that ship look pregnant?
I've always thought that this Excalibur class looked a little bloated. I've seen it used in a couple of roleplaying fleets and, more often than not, this will be considered the largest ship in all of Starfleet. (Something to the tune of about 850m, give or take - with a deck number ranging from 40 to 52.)
When you've seen as many threads begging for the Vesta class as I've seen(and there have been MANY), you might begin to agree with my method of saying it.
I'd be happy to see the ship in the game! I am just sick to death of seeing new threads pop up about it, like the people who start those threads have never seen a thread about the Vesta class before and think that just because they want it, that they are compelled to spam the forums about it until they get it.
ok guy, again, you are taking like five words out of the op's whole post...
he did not create this as a gimme gimme i want it now thread, nor is it copying them.. 3/4's of his post is just showing pictures of the ship. we all know it is slated for arrival sometime this year (even though i think the ship is fugly lol..).
dude, i think you need to relax, i find that being on the sto forums while im "angry" as you stated is not a good thing lol... the forums are a place for people to not only complain, but discuss what they want in game, what they like or dislike in game, and to post their ideas and express themselves for the community... if you do not like a post, simply ignore it... there are probably between 20 and a hundred threads started a day (depending on the day), and i only open those which peak my interest... and usually i only respond if i have something i feel is constructive to say... responding to tell someone that they shouldnt have posted it, or there are too many posts on the same topic, or just to try and start an argument is a waste of everyones time... by the way, im not saying that if you do not like an idea that you cant appose it, but what you are apposing here is petty and it is not constructive at all... your response to this person posting was more personal than it was at actually being constructive towards the point of the thread...
Ugh.. That's the ship everyone keeps campaigning for?
For the love of all that's holy and good in this world, why?
I think it's an overlong, humpbacked, hideous mess of a ship..
Hm.. Yes. That is it. I hate this! It is revolting!
o whatever man. whats the point of adding new ships if all they end up doing is adding borg stuff and reman shields on it. does it realy matter one single bit how a ship looks these days ? bring in the lego ships for all i care. more stuff for people to TRIBBLE over.
Me and all my friends love the Vesta class. It looks like it would be the natural progression given the direction of ships we've seen on TV and on the Big Screen. Its absolutely beautiful to my eyes, and filled to the brim with new technologies and capabilities. I would do anything to see this in-game, and I'm surprised at the opposition in this thread.
My only wishes are these two:
1) It gets added to the game, sooner then later. We know the Ambassador and the Andorian Battlecruiser are coming soon. Make the Vesta after that?
2) Give it teeth and tech. Let it mount cannons and give it a decent turn rate. Remember, this is an ADVANCED ship. I'd like to see it as the big kid on the block. Science ship w/ a decent amount of crew (300, 400?) that can mount cannons (but keep the traditional 3x2, or maybe something creative like 4x2?) and have somewhat of a buff to shields like all science ships do, but maybe not as great. a real, literal hybrid. Let's make it interesting, fun, and decently balanced!
Oh one last thing... accord to the books it has a runabout launching pad. So if Feds can't have carriers, can we carry three runabouts? Just a beginning to the idea... there is a lot we can do with this ship!
Seems that everyone either loves the design or hates it.
I'm going to go with the love it side. I remember hearing that it might end up being a combat-oriented science ship; which I think is a really good idea. I've tried other sci ships but I'm just not liking the other designs and I think would definitely buy the Vesta from the C-store if it came out.
Count me in on the hate side, this ship is hidous and doesn't look trek to me at all, fits right in with the fleet escorts category for me, aka burn them, nuke em, vapourise what is left, and send the gasses into a black hole.
Anyway that is my opinion for those who love it, hope you enjoy it once it comes out.

Huh. Thought it was smaller for some reason.
