I'm hacking away at Foundry episodes. There is an almost limitless supply of missions to try on Tribble NOW! There is no need or reason to wait for anything...
Transfer your latest character and try some missions. If you are the creative type now is the perfect time to start learning the Foundry Toolset before it goes live to Holodeck. Try StarbaseUGC.com for tutorials and the chat room always has some talented Foundry authors hanging out to help you with questions and problems...
To the Naysayers that think the Foundry can't measure up... I say put your money where your mouth is and try some missions or make your own... at least you can give us your opinion as to why you don't like a mission and they can be improved.
The authors of Foundry missions need players to try their missions and provide feedback and opinions and players need content... We need to put these two elements together and get more content of a good quality for everyone.
My big concern is those really great authors running out of mission slots. I know Cryptic is thinking about ways to handle this, but until I actually hear a solution I'm still going to be concerned.

(!) Wait, they have a limited amount of missions they can make? Yikes, hope that's fixed before the Foundry gets released.

Yes, and that in itself makes perfect sense. These missions are huge amount of data space, so Cryptic cant simply allow people to create an unlimited amount. They are trying to come up with some kind of solution that gives people who create really good missions more than the standard amount of slots, but as I said until I actually hear there is a solution then I will remain concerned.
Well the featured series 3 was alot of fun, but with that over it will now be several months before Season 4 and Cryptic has said that the next featured series probably wont be coming out until then as well. That means we're in for several months of no new official content except for C-store updates. What do you play to do to stay busy and entertained during the Great Content Drought?
Play the new dailies that dstahl is releasing (possibly this week).
Play Foundry content when it goes to Holodeck next week (probably).
Someone people are acting like there will be absolutely no new missions to play from now until August when, in all likelihood, there will be more missions to play than ever before.
So is the Foundry gonna be on the ships holodeck? I haven't put any kind of research into it yet.
No. Foundry missions will be accepted through your mission journal(on a new tab called "community authored"). When creating a Foundry mission, each author has to select an existing game location(usually a planet sector) that people have to travel to, to begin their mission. So you will browse the missions in your mission journal, and when you accept one you will have to travel to whatever star system the mission tells you to begin the mission.

Which part? If you mean the limit, its a technical necessity. If you mean the fact that they dont have a solution yet, me either.
On a side note, the necessity of this limit is also a guarantee that if STO ever goes F2P that free players will not be able to create Foundry missions. The reason is because you can create unlimited free accounts, so anybody could create multiple free accounts and create unlimited Foundry missions. However, I am fairly sure that free players would still be able to play Foundry missions, just not create them.
Personally I plan on leveling up my main, then leveling up some alts. I like the exploration missions so I plan on playing them. I'd also like to get involved with pvp. I plan on running dailies, and to start building up emblems and badges for ships in the c-store I'd like to earn in game. From time to time I'll focus on crafting. Above all I plan to have fun with the game. If I need to take a break I'll do so, but as long as the servers are up I'll be playing STO because I enjoy the game.
Both to be honest, I'll have to remember if I want to do a Foundry mission for my LP to do it quick incase they decide to delete it cause of the limits.
There is a current limit of 8 missions per account in the Foundry. I have 6 myself as a story-arc. The amount of time required to make 8 Very Well Done Missions is Significant. I'm still revising mine... 2 out of 6 are completely re-done with branching dialogue and triggers. I seriously doubt anyone will have completed 8 revised missions of any caliber in the short time since the latest big Foundry Update.
I can easily burn 8-12 hours tweaking a mission and writing dialogue. The amount of time some authors put into their work is daunting. However, the tools can create basic missions very fast. There will be a vast difference between the two. Just eliminating Typo's can be very frustrating and time consuming, but can be the biggest turn-off for players...
There will be good missions and bad missions there for all to try. There are several places to find Foundry Mission Reviews and Trailers. don't be afraid... if it's terrible you can always drop a mission and try another... I dare say no one could ever try them all.
Complaining about having nothing new to do in STO is proclaiming your own ignorance... There are hundreds if not thousands of missions waiting for you to try... and besides... can they be any worse than a scan 3 explore mission? I mean... c'mon... really?
Don't get me wrong... there are some bugs in the Foundry, but it's getting better all the time as the Dev's and authors get everything ironed out. Give it a chance and try something new...

im not following you here. they wont delete anything.
every player has a limit on the number of missions they can create. if you hit your limit you can delete one and free up the slot.
cryptic themselves wont be deleting anyones missions.

Nobody will be deleting the mission but you. However, you will have a limited number of slots, so if you reach your limit and you want to create more, then you might have to make that choice.

Funnily enough, dstahl said that both demo and trial users will be able to play Foundry missions (though this doesn't mean they'll be able to create anything though)
Level alts - I have a Klingon Tac who's been idling at LTC 1 while I pushed my Fed Eng main to VA, and a joined Trill Sci concept that I may make on Tribble first to see if I can wrap my head around Sci gameplay.
the Foundry - Try it out and learn how to use it myself.
City of Heroes - my "main" game, which I have neglected terribly this last month or so.

But, seeing as how Cryptic has made the foundry a center point for new content(i dont agree with that), then already, new content is going to be limited. I dont believe they should have spent so much time on the foundry as a addition to the game. Maybe as a optional evelopment tool set for those that choose to down load and use it.After all if we are relying on the player base for content it would seem something is inherently wrong with the way the IP is being handled.
I would much rather have seen more time spent on actual story driven Star Trek Universe content created and not the foundry, or C-store stuff.
Comments
probably be playing hundreds of foundry missions.

?
its not in the tribble virsion of foundry, its a dev idea for the live virsion, it's not going to be fixed but it might be added

Whaaat? When did they say next week?
It's definitely not this week though.

they are treated like real missions. you hail someone they say go off to TRIBBLE system and you play it like you would a normal cryptic mission.
I don't like the sound of that.

seriously each mission can be huge. whilst the exact number has yet to be determined there simply has to be a limit.
the key is how many slots will it end up being and how will obtain more slots.
Both are pretty darn good by the way.
I am currently working on the Chaos Rising campaign portion of Dawn of War 2 and about around level 7 on my DA2 chars.

Rift.
words for the word god.

and finally,
Sleep.
Hey, thats exactly what I said! Nice
And dont forget increasing our invisible post counts! Either way you deserve a raise
