Cryptic, please upgrade or increase your servers. I am SICK and TIRED of getting DC's every 15 minutes.

This has happened to me as well since last night. I have ran every check on my ports , have run my virus protection and spybot and have defragged and still the same problem. I have checked internet connection and speed and everything checks out fine which leads me to believe its on the server side where the problem is at.

Just today about an hour ago (right now its 7:45 am) I was disconnected from the server no less than 23 times. A mission that would normally take 20 minutes took an hour. And not just missions , i was crashing as i was using the exchange, in Sector Space , and even on the bridge of my ship.

I have seen the older threads about the same problem but so far I do not see a response from Cryptic on how they addressed the problem or in this case if they can address this immediate problem. At any rate i submitted a bug report (and I crashed while I was doing that as well ) . I do hope some sort of maintenance can be in the works and hopefully soon.

Any possibility it is ISP related? If not, what part of the globe do you reside? (the second question is technically relevant)

Its not either of those for me. The issue only appeared after the release of the new featured series, which caused a huge increase of active players, in which Cryptic has yet to take any real measures to fix.

Te only thing cryptic has done, and this did not fix the problem, was install a login queue.

I've been having nasty "rubber-banding" and "server not responding" issues since the 1 year anniversary. I have to wonder if maybe the increase in people per instance is a little more than my internet connection can take.

I have played other games online but never with this many crashes and in such short spaces between each other . I live in the Caribbean but the internet is fine , I mean i can log onto almost anything else with no problem but now it's a little strange that I time out frequently only when I try to access the STO site online. So now its two problems with their game and their website i think. I also have submitted a ticket online as well as in game.

A ticket wont fix this. Cryptic has to either:

Upgrade their servers to improve stability with high numbers of active players

    OR

Increase the Server Cap to compensate for the high number of active players

Honestly, that sopunds more like a possible routing issue with your ISP. That could cause the issue you're describing and would be beyond Cryptic's ability to control as th don't have control obver how the internet in certain areas of the world route traffic.

I don't think so , I have played games with way more server pull than STO and i have not had this many server disconnects and if it was just the players in the Caribbean that had this problem then I would agree with a routing issue, but this problem seems to be recurring if the older posts are anything to go by and the fact that it has been reported by folks from all over the globe.

i get this exact same problem but only in one place, inside infected ground part, fact or fiction. its hard enough getting a group for kdf as it is, on my engineer its not so bad but on my sci , boom chain dc's to desktop, stuttering. it even tells me i dont complete fact or fiction when i do. respawns me where it wants and its getting to the point im ready to throw this game out the window an go play a game where the company in charge fix's bugs, dont tell you to downgrade your updates to fix a bug and actually updates the game and server to run the newest drivers, cos you know what the newest drivers are new for a reason, they dont create them for fun.

Heck, I just came back from a 6 month hiatus from the game (waiting for more "end game").

The first thing I notice is the lag, the second thing I noticed was that sector space looks much better, the third thing I noticed was that about every 15-30 minutes the server drops the connection.

Oddly enough, I have the exact same computer, network, internet connection as I had before when I played, yet I have frequent lag and disconnects.

I am an avid MMO gamer, and have not had this issue in any games I have played (and still playing) This isn't an issue with the customers, this is an issue with overburdened servers.

This problem does not occur when I play EQ2, Rifts, DCUO or Vindictus (all MMO games) just STO. This isn't an ISP issue, at least not my ISP.

If that's the case (ie the servers are overburdened) - how do you explain people like mysellf who never experience a drop or disconnect in a multi hour (6+ hour) gaming session. If the servers were overburdened to the degree yo9u suggest, I should be seeing lag and disconnects all the time - yet I don't. (And I run on a lowley 3mbit DSL connection too.)

If te majority of players were seeing constant disconnects, I would agree with you, but that's not been the case; which points to other possibilities such as:

A traffic routing issue on your ISP to the physical area the Cryptic servers are located in (Boston.)
Filtering or Throttling of Cryptic data packets.
Blocked ports (intermittent or otherwise) that the game needs to operate smoothly.

Now, I'm not sayng your issue doesn't exist as it must or you wouldn't be posting here; but to assume becaiuse you can play other MMOs fine, therefore it's not your connection is ignoring the fact that all MMOs operate a bit differently; and some (WoW in particular) may have more 'pull' (ie ISPs are willing to make sure nothing mpeeds traffic as a postion of it's customers may only want high speed internet.)

Agai, if this were a massive threadnaught with hundreds or thousands of posts, I might agree that it's promarily a Cryptic server issue. But since there's a small number reporting this issue, I would say, it's the exception, not the 'norm' - and the issue may lie outside of Cryptic's ability to directly control.

I experience loss of connection about 10 times minimum in an hour, immense lag spikes. I am almost going into my 2nd month of subscription but am more and more starting to doubt if this is worth it. My system is good enough and have a stable cable connection of 20mb. STO really needs to start to solve this, this game is p2p and as many of you can see more and more players are having these issues, just check the forum. Support should be a high priority with p2p games. People saying that this is a problem at our own ISP, please use common sense, not this many people have problems with their ISP and the solutions answer isn't always: It is your ISP. I live in the Netherlands and we have a very stable connection.

It surprises me that STO still hasn't gotten on this issue, lack of support and stable game will result in loss of players etc.. you get the picture.

Wow that is weird, I live in New Zealand and I don’t experience any disconnects at all...been one of the furthest countries you would think I would get this problem.

I never have any disconnect issues. I usually play for about two hours at a time every other day or so.

Logically, If it were a Cryptic issue, shouldn't all of us be getting disconnected every 10 minutes or suffering terrible lag? Why would only some of us be experiencing horrible server issues if we all connect to the same instanced server?

Maybe some folks need to ask their mom-and-pop ISPs what the deal is?

Maybe you should keep comments like mom and pops to yourself. There is no need to start offending people (FYI I am 32), your last sentence was not necessary.

As you see there are a lot of people with this issue, even if it would be an issue of the players self, Cryptic should be on topic of things like this. They want players to have a nice and smooth game play, if you browse through tech issues section on the forum you see lots of topics that are related to loss of connection.

you may be 32, but you don't act it. Mom-and-pop whatevers refers to smaller organizations, run by a mom and pop, as opposed to a massive corporation. In my post, I am refrencing small ISPs that tend to have horrible DNS issues or horribly misconfigured routing statements. It doesn't mean you live with your parents. Way to make it all about you, thou.

a mom-and-pop ISP is like BubbaNet out in the sticks instead of Verizon Fiber Optic service. get it now?

Putting your misdirected hostility aside, my point still stands. If it was a server side problem, wouldn't we all experience it? And it is in no way Cryptics responsibility to trouibleshoot your ISPs problems.

Never heard of the mom and pop thing before, perhaps it's a famous expression in your country? Even though you were just trying to be helpful, you should have said small internet provider which would bring universal understanding, also not everyone knows acronyms such as DNS. Since most people would think you were insulting that person, I don’t see why you continue to act aggressive when someone comes to defend them. You should have explained yourself and laughed about the whole misunderstanding, instead you became hostile, you basically defeated your own point by doing what you were mistakenly accused for the first time. The poster wasn’t trying to make everything about them, just was trying to protect a former sto player.

I use a pretty big Internet/ cable company around here in Arkansas, it's called Comcast also know as COX to some areas, and these issues seem to only appear at their worst around 5pm Central time and last till somewhere around 8 AM the next day.

ok update did some digging around the support forums and found that WishStone had recommended people to use Proxy Server connections, I went to my respective US Proxy and the game is playable with the slight yo yo effect.

When logging in my character, get error message "An error occurred while transferring this character its destination map." Given a choice between normal and safe logins. When I choose either, the attempt times out and server is disconnected. Other character login works fine. Unfortunately, the character I am trying to login is the one that I use all the time. Have a life subscription and have bought life subscriptions for my three sons. Can't play the game after well over a year of enjoying it!!!
Have run all the diagnostics and everything, including my internet connection, are ok.

Sounds like there's a problem with the single character; and only a GM can assist in resolving that type of issue. My suggestion would be to open a GM Assistance Ticket (not a BUG Ticket as that's different), and get them to 'fix' the problem with your one character so you can access it again.
