    ^ this

As much as I love STO, Dragon Age 2 is going to be getting lots of attention over the next couple weeks.. I am willing to wait a little while for the next featured series... especially if they open up a new sector block with it..

I may be in the minority here. I think of the Featured episodes like a mini-season of television. IMHO the story telling and artistry has been as good or better than some of the television episodes we've gotten. I personally don't mind having a "season break" of a couple of months if it means that I get an awesome new season afterwards. I love the work they're doing. Then again, I haven't been playing the game that long. Which means there's still a ton of content I haven't done and there's no chance I'll be bored waiting for season 4 and the next featured episode.

What I absolutely love about the weekly series (aside from the fantastic plots and visuals) is that the team is clearly using them as a launchpad for cool new features and expansion of the engine's abilities. Sparing the details, I'm sure we saw the engine do something new in each of the episodes of this series. What's not to love?!

What would you do for a Klondike bar? ;)

Anyways, I think that maybe fewer, better missions might work once the Foundry comes out. Dailies are great: they flesh out a region, explore lore, and can be produced quickly. However, we're a couple weeks away from being knee deep in content. :)

I'm sorry, missions, stories, quests, episodes, whathaveyou cannot be "too good". I've heard people say this before for other media and to me it makes no sense, bordering on absurd.

I know I would love it if there were no lag time between series. However, I want Cryptic to do what the majority of the vocal players asked for and implement new tech to expand what this game is capable of.

I really don't pay a monthly subscription to simply read a story. I pay a sub to log in and do stuff. If they were to switch gears and dial back the awesome, i'd just quit and come back every 6 months to see if the new seasons added enough functionality that I can do new things.

I think we should let the foundry answer the immediate need for well written story-based quests and other content to fill the gaps in between some of the most beautiful and engaging (and free!) content additions to any MMO i've ever played.

The OP's point was that quality and quantity are mutually exclusive with set resources and time.

STO's first year saw a lot of missions added (52 isn't anything to scoff at) but that the devs have suddenly turned the dial toward crazy amounts of quality (albeit we get fewer missions per year at this rate).

The mission selection is starting to become an excellent blend. I do not always have time for a Colosseum style mission but other days I will run an alt strait through a weekly series in one sitting.

I have really felt a sense of choice on the Fed side about how I want to level a character. This current series was great and just hope those locations get used again.

Fast or slow, the relentless growth of STO is going to provide some amazing mission options down the road.

Some of what makes the missions great is the WOW! Factor of seeing the "flair"

Agreed. I rather see them push and take a bit of extra time, then not push and we get mediocre content. You want tons of mediocre to good stuff on a regular basis? Wait until the Foundry goes live. The best stuff SHOULD be done by the Dev team - and I think whatever they're doing to get these out, they should continue and not change a thing as, overall (with a few nitpichks here and there); from the day the first FE was released, they've all been VERY good to amazing.

Don't TRIBBLE with a good thing. They know what they're doing, so let them continue as they are. :)

Doubtful, I at first got into DA but after I killed the dragon I lost interest. The story wasn't bad but the game mechanics were not that great. Then you add in the EA intrusion software you had to put up with...no thanks.

But in regards to how long Cryptic takes to make the next series, I hope it is sooner then later. But, I hope it is done right and not rushed. So, in the end I want it only when it is ready. Cryptic (dstahl) has said they plan on about 22 weekly episodes (I think it was 22..may have been 23 or 24) during a 12 month span. So that means you are going to have 28 weeks at least without any. I know it is hard to accept but that is the way it is.

let me put it to you a few different ways.
    1) I agree, many of the original episodes sucked (the borg ones, especially). But there must be a healthy medium where (if it takes 3 weeks to make an amazing episode and a day to make one of those dumb borg ones), if you spent only 2 weeks for one episode (ie 33 percent less time), would quality be that hampered?
    2) my real issue is this: Cryptic has given alot of story threads. The Borg, the undine, the romulans, the defidians (they have said that this storyline isn't done), the KDF/fed war, the dominion, the felkner (i never remember thier name), the iconians and more. I will curse them until the end of time if I don't get some sort of resolution to them. There will be a time where it will not be profitable for them to make anymore episodes for this game. Let's say that is in 5 years. Now, judging by the number of story threads, can they all be resolved within 5 years? At the pace cryptic is going, there is no way. I asked them about 6 months ago whether they have a plan to resolve these stories and they said "sure". When i tell my kids "Will you take care of me when i get to old to take care of myself" they always say "yes, of course daddy". But I know that they plan on being as far away from me and my poopy diapers as they can.

Is it possible that the "Revamped ground combat" could be released before the rest of Season 4, if that happens to be a primary reason for the hold-up before being able to release the next set of feature episodes?

Thought these past 5 episodes were the greatest i've experienced yet. Just a huge shame, that it needs to be such a long wait between "Featured Episodes". This game really needs more things to do, not just while leveling, but also when you reach cap. I hope Cryptic takes this into consideration, and tries to expand further on the "max level activities" rather than increasing the cap again.

But, if you never see some sort of detente or closure to the storyline, you won't feel at all disappointed?

December 22nd, you mean. The prophecy is for December 21st.

Still... it would be something to see--content MMO players and content Trekkies all as one.

To tell a story one needs tools.
By making tools, they can tell their stories better, faster, and with more flair.

They're constantly improving their tools and their tool set. I imagine that right now when they do something new or complex, it's a TRIBBLE, jury rigged set of code just to get it to work. Once they polish it, they can make that same effect in a fraction of the time.

So really, by allowing them to update and improve their tool set and what they can do, you allow them to make missions easier to produce.

And if I eat my spinach, i can be big and strong like Popeye.
In all reality, knowing how these toolsets are made, they can be 'improved' forever.

Honestly, I thought this was the direction that PvE needed to go to be able to compete with a certain other game that will be released this year. Now, if only they'd pay attention to PvP, as well...

I think they are great as they are. In the meantime, try a new prof, do some diplo, some crafting or rate a bunch of foundry missions. Plenty to do. As my momma used to say: "If you're bored, it's cause you're boring."

The new episodes were really good in adding to the story and added several features. I am sure I wasn't the only one wow'd by Cut the Cord. The map was just huge and detailed with a decent amount of things to do, and it had the attention to ambience that it felt like a war zone. I can not imagine how long that map took to make. I would be willing to place latinum on it being started around or before Season 3.

The map felt 3 dimensional , and I would actually like to see stuff like this integrated with the new 3rd Person combat system so that we can climb, crawl, swim, and shoot from cover. I like seeing new tech added that allows us to do more. So if it takes them longer to develop things I am fine with that.
