I dont get it. How is adding dailies with each featured episode series setting a bad precedence? People like these missions.
He means they did not originally intend to do them for each series but, now that they have, people come to expect them for each series.
I like the dailies and feel they're just as compelling as the Featured Episodes but for different reasons: they give us persistent areas to explore (and persistent areas with content!) and flesh out the overall feel of a sector.
They're the ambiance to the game world whereas the Featured Episodes are the primary feature.
Yep. These weeklies and dailies cannot carry the ship alone eternally. Other areas would fall apart.... A break before something else breaks, maybe. *hides*
We do not plan to always do this, however there has been a hint of foreshadowing that a few people have picked up on as to where we're going next.
Also, in between the series, we do plan to continue to release some new mission related content that isn't specifically tied to the series but can act as a bridge or segue as we go from series to series.
So for example the Breen series is 5 (really 6) episodes long. When the last episode finishes, there will be two weeks where each Saturday we will release an unrelated one-off/minor mission that acts as a bridge or foreshadow for the upcoming series.
This will allow players time to claim their special rewards as well as allow the mission team to write one-off interesting missions that do not have to be tied directly to the major plot.
As always, we'll adjust as necessary, but so far - that's the plan.
The thing about that quote is that it seems to imply missions tied to the next series, rather than missions tied to the just completed series. That still hasn't happened, unless you count the dialogue or whatever it was with Drake the week before the Devidian series.

Either way, they obviously planned on doing MORE than just the featured episodes themselves. And since the dailies were part of the very first featured series, they seemed to be part of that original plan.
unfortunately it seems they are getting further and further away from their original plan with each series. first in how long it would be between series, and now by acting like the dailies shouldnt be included in the series

and dstahl is, oddly, still working on the new dailies including crafting ones.
sorry - this is true. I have been working on dailies but I'm running behind schedule (since I don't really have all the time in the world to make content - but I've set a bad precedence by adding dailies each series).
I got about 90% done with the shuttle crafting daily on Friday so I'm hopeful that will be in soon.
I'm also working on a Horta Crafting repeatable mission, as well as some additional melee weapon crafting missions. Not firm eta - but I will get them posted as soon as I can.
The Horta are living, sentient beings. Now we are going to breed them and make them our pets? Why not Vulcans or humans. When will we have human crafting so i can own a pet human?
When I own a pet human can I pick his skin color or will that hit too close to home?

I don't believe he was forced to follow single person around and appear and disappear at his every beck and call. (He may have chosen to do so as a starfleet officer, but he could quit if he wanted to). And for that matter who owned him?
The whole Horta thing sounds way too much like slavery for the starfleet I know.

When you "call" your Horta out they willingly follow you around. I dont see any leash making them do so, and as you said they have free will so they must want to.
Slaver? Have taken a look at your BO's lately? We buy and sell them! We change their names apparently erase and retrain them, change their skin color, chair color, facial stricter. At some point it is just a game! Have fun! If you can't do that here then go find a new game.

You mean like bridge officers?
If DS9 was a player made experience in STO, Sisko (or maybe Ross) would be the player character and Bashir (and O'brien and Odo and Kira and Dax) would be pets that could be summoned or dismissed by the Sisko player, either chosen for a mission or outright traded and deleted.
If you can't do that here then go find a new game.
I'll just stay here and have fun thank you very much.
And you guys can justify it all you want but the Federation Gene Roddenberry envisioned doesn't allow slavery. Doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the game at all that lots of people are pro slavery. Just makes me shake my head.

Hell yeah, thats what I'm talkin about!
really the only one being offense is you. no where is it stated in game that horta are slaves or anything of the like.
it's a game mechanic to allow fans of the horta to have fun with one.
Honestly what's different about your BOFFs?
Game mechanics allow us to change anything we want about them, we can even make them go stand in a spot if we want and they can't move till we let them! Oh noes it's slavery!
if you got a twisted skant because the horta aren't going to be bridge officers, sorry, they just aren't designed to be shown that way. How would one hold a rifle or wear armor? or use a control panel on ship?
There are references to nonhuman crews in Star trek, ie the dolphins on the Enterprise D, but they aren't shown on screen. why? because they wouldn't be able to display them in any sort of believable justice? just pretend(gasp! pretend in a MMORPG?!? what an idea) that your horta "pet" is just another officer, that's what one of my captains did, she needed a expert to help with a mining op, a horta was perfect. (and as far as I remember devs are put quotes around the word "pet" anytime they talk about horta)

I'm pretty sure they did:

Yes, I mean the post I linked to. Specifically the second paragraph.

That leads me back to my previous post in this thread:

So long as it isn't another satellite of love mission.
LOL! You win the internet.
It's not like you can do anything with a shuttle except run ONE mission.
Not true, you can do a lot of missions, any mission.
Shuttles just make them a bit harder and more challenging, but definitely doable.
D, we love the SWORDS dude...the Swords!!

Bashir.
'nuf said. He was crafted.

The same is true of professional athletes, and that isnt slavery.
No Horta Attack Pets!

Not to mention all the work that has been done to cohese those pixels into something fun for us to play with.
Respect the work and don't worry about RW problems in game.
I also think the Horta Crafting is some sort of "Pick your helper" type of deal as well. As horta may be desperate for jobs or action.
But after all. this is just a game.
