Pretty much this.... if you gift Tokens to anyone, and they ever gave you anything, it could be viewed as selling them. So much for fleet event prizes and b-day gifts... "Oh hey Jim, Happy Birthday, here have some tokens!" *banhammer'd both accounts*

I think it'd only be an issue if someone complained to a CS rep. But since they have a system for gifting players, I don't see that side of it as a problem. But, as always, a black market will grow. It'll just allow my ignore list to grow.

Yes because it says that anywhere. Get real, they didn't just set up a mechanism to gift Atari Points so they could ban people who did it. Gifting them is no different then buying a STO box as a gift for your friend. Perfectly fine. Just don't try selling something you own in game (including everything in game, as in your account) for something outside of game and it's fine.

We will be able to tell the difference between a fleet mate or a friend getting a random gift and someone trying to run an in-game business.

Oh I don't doubt that, but to my reading I'm not allowed to gift in game currency (atari tokens) to someone. Like I say if everyone at Cryptic's happy cool just wanted to say it in case :-)

And what happens when someone decides to troll you and get you banned doing this? The posibility exists, and even if Wishstone said they can see the difference, I still see people getting caught up in it and potentially banned. The precedent is there in other games. There are plenty of people out there who waste RL money to troll otheres...

I am sorry you are believeing that you cannot trust what I have told you in this matter.
Your worries are unfunded due to our policies and procedures. This is however all I can and will say on this matter at this time.
If you feel there is a problem with giving a token key to friends or taking one from a friend, you will have the choice to refuse gifting or accepting a code - because no one can force the code on your account.

Not my intention. I apologise if it came across that way, was anapprently misguided attempt to be helpful.

This, more than anything This is what I wanted to see from Wish. My only concern was that this could be and would be used as a griefing tool to get people banned, at least temp, but this one thing makes the system less open to abuse. Ty wish, and keep up the good work. ;)

Wich is just about the worst excuse to do somthing illegal, I've heard.

Of cause it is Illegal, EVEN if you don't get caught. Getting caught has nothing to do with if it is illegal or not, and hiding behind it, is exactly the reason for half the violence out there... Because they don't think they are getting caught.

Or would you say, that if someone came up to you, beat you senceless and ran, and he'd never get caught, it would be ok with you?

Don't bother... I wouldn belive you if you said yes.

Illegal is Illegal.. No matter what conditons you use...

    Say wut?

The question was: Would it be allowed to sell Atari Tokens for Energy Credits to other players?
Our answer in this: No, it is not. If you do so, you will run risk of losing your account.

Thank you for taking the time to clarify this. A definite confirmation of policy is welcome.

I imagine this policy also makes the concept of an in-game Virtual Token Card unlikely for now. Nonetheless, thanks to the people posting in support of the idea.

While on the topic, would it be acceptable for established Foundry authors to include something in their mission descriptions along the lines of "If you like my missions, please donate Atari Tokens" Or would this contravene the Game or Foundry EULA?
