The End of Beta Borg Invasoin. My Liberated Borg is my Beta character reborn;, before which she was last seen fighting 2 Cubes in a Connie Refit, after battling for life and limb on ESD against a combined force of Borg and Klinks!
What i remember most is the STO login screen music. Mostly because i spent so long waiting at that screen hoping the game would come back up from another open beta crash. I personally love the music
it reminds me of how mysterious STO was then. I knew the game was probably not finished even before playing it though, but there was so much to do!
The other big moment for me was traveling to sector space for the first time. Other players were slowly setting off in various directions, and all the adventures of the tv shows felt like they were at my finger tips. That was a thrill.
That was awesome too!! I remember that they allowed the KDF to come and help on ESD but the targeting was still judging them as enemies. Every other shoot it seemed would fly out and start hitting the nearest Klingon player which would get the shout, "STOP SHOOTING ME" followed by about a hundred "SORRY" 's and then indiscriminate cussing.
Just another reason why we don't trust the feds. Even when asked to help against a worse foe, you continue to attack us.:p
for me, it was the massive fleet actions you would get involved in
you would have like 50 players all going at a fleet action, none of us really knowing what were doing yet still zerging the TRIBBLE out of it
or the open teaming for patrol missions. going into a patrol and randomly ending up with a team of 4 other players, and more enemy ships got added in to compensate. each patrol mission would turn out to be its own fleet action

thats what i miss
I remember that too. Especially when I first entered Starbase 24, all the ships engaging each other. Felt like being in an episode of DS9

at launch i remember that 8 beam arrays was the only way to go. after that got nerfed i kind of lost interest and didnt play till after season 2. even by then i was wowed by the improvements over open beta and launch and have been playing regularly ever sense.

remember when the skill tooltips were so bad the COO of Cryptic, who actually studied latin and greek, described them as "I don't have a clue what any of this means"?

Tooltips at launch didn't convey information either accurately or in language people could understand. They used tons of variable names without any indication of what those variables did.
I believe Jack's comments were in a video game podcast. I forget the name now.

I remember doing the interior ship part of "City on the Edge of Never". The klingons were invisible due to some kind of glitch and I could only see them if they came close enough.
Man that was a hoot: being shot at by invisible disruptors. lol.
The first time I saw someone in a galaxy class ship. Back when everyone was leveling almost at the same time, but there were a few that professed faster and the ship was new. I remember being in awe as that thing did DSE with me.

I'm kinda sad I missed that event

Bring sulu back, please have a wondering npc just keep asking
Also the fun of having people ask Where's Sulu and some of the answers players came up with hehehe.
Ooo and the very first time DS9 was opened up to us and EVERYONE was flying over there.
*sighs* meeeeemmmmoorrrriiieeeeessss.
What would have to be your favorite improvements?
So glad the game evolved past 16 options in a giant list...
Yeah, I try not to either.
I appreciate the positives of that time but remembering the bad helps me appreciate the game's present
He always sounded like he'd just discovered what good coffee was.
I think I like Stahl a little better but to each his own.
BTW, i love your thread with the reveals
I never heard about that , what was wrong?
I believe Jack's comments were in a video game podcast. I forget the name now.
I never noticed, but that sounds hilarious.
