Hi, I'm not exactly a new player, I bought the game pretty soon after it came out(388 days ago according to my account, lol) and became a lifetime subscriber, but haven't played much. I have picked it back up and loving it. I don't have any real life friends that play, so I would like to join a friendly, adult federation fleet. Not sure if this is the right forum to go about this, so sorry if I am posting on the wrong board. I'm not into power gaming or anything, more of a social and casual player. If anyone would want me in their fleet, please solicit me :)

Also, the C-Store sure has gathered a lot of stuff in it. What is really useful to purchase from there? Are the ships worth it, not that I am anywhere near admiral rank.

You need to buy all the uniforms! Then spend about a week getting yours and your bridge officers uniforms just right. Can't save the galaxy unless you are properly dressed in sexy style, can you?

    Welcome back!

    C-Store:
Delta Flyer is useful, The Vulcan ship is extremely useful AND comes with a snazzy support craft, the Open Jacket uniforms are awesome. The Tribble pets may seem superfluous but they are EXTREMELY useful. Skill Boosts help if you want to level faster, though they are expensive.
The Excelsior is, to turn a phrase, the Drift Racer of the Future. Outfitted correctly it is a monster in a turn fight and has transwarp options built into other than just Earth Space Dock so you don't need to grind Ambassador. (unless you want instant access to DS9 or 39 Sierra)
The Nebula is, in my opinion, pretty good. I made mine a turret build and had no problems with it. Feels like everything else aside from it's ability to act like an AWAKS and mass-decloaked huddled cloaked vessels. Useful for PVP if your team is clustered together.
Galaxy X is one that I blatantly refuse to buy. Sure it cloaks, sure it has an underpowered death-ray... but it still has almost exactly the same stat modifiers as the Galaxy at captain, and I would rather my ship's turn rate be higher than the return rate on my tax refund. Beyond that, I find it ugly. Like REALLY ugly. Though, one could argue that it wasn't built to do pretty things, I would argue back "Good luck doing anything meaningful with this thing". For the same amount of money as it costs, order a pizza and play the game with a better ship. /rant
EDIT: Forgot the NX class. Absolutely worth it if you make a new character. Having an escort at tier 1 was incredible, add to that it has a built-in "tractor beam" in the form of harpoons and it's something special. Something special that doesn't fly like a Miranda. It flies like an African Swallow. An unladen swallow at that.

    Finding a Fleet:
Check the Starbase One board, you can find it on the quick-launch drop-down menu at the bottom of this page. No shortage of fleets.

    EDIT: Another helpful note:
Now that mission replay is live, you don't need to pick and choose one reward at the end of a mission if it's a hard choice. Just visit your bridge and go to your ready room. Use the terminal on your desk to replay the mission and get the other item(s) you wanted. Also, with featured episodes you get some really cool (though not always useful) gear. Try and play them the same month they come out because some of that loot is limited time only. Like a McRib.

Hmm.. some helpful replies. Sadly the balance must be maintained.

There, the dirty work is done.

You could always just join the Ten Forward Fleet.

I'm not in it - I'm in Spaceballs the Fleet.(Not that I don't want to be in TF the Fleet, it's just i was in SB first)

*Passes $20 Bored Zero's way and nods appreciatively.*

Keep promoting like that and there'll be more where that came from. ;)

You can have it back - it just made sense.

But seriously though - I would've joined the 10F fleet if I weren't already in Spaceballs.

    XD

Welcome back! I'm just returning after a year-long hiatus myself, and I'm surprised at how different this game feels. So much has changed for the better, and I haven't even really gotten that far yet. Last night, I ran through one of the beginner missions with a couple people from this forum, and it was completely redone. I probably got lost three or four times... Nothing new for me, but still! :p

As far as a fleet, stick around this forum and see if you can get in the ten-forward fleet. Great people, even if they are completely insane... Or maybe they're great because they're completely insane?

And Captain Cappiebergington has been into the alcohol again. :p

You used me as a human shield last night! You and Corban both! It was because I was rocking a beard, wasn't it?

No, I thought I saw Elvis. Turned out to be a binar in a white jumpsuit. Don't ask.

Hey, I made an excellent human shield/distraction. Let's just ignore the crying and running in circles. I'm pretty sure my epic beard absorbed about half of the damage directed at me.

Thanks, never before have I ever felt so welcome! Well, except after my parents died and I had to move in with my uncle. He really loved me and wanted me to live with him, I knew it from the first night I stayed with him, becasue he crawled into be with me. I guess he thought I might be scared...not sure...and the next tens years are a blur...but now that I'm out of prison and I can take a TRIBBLE without crying, I think I am ready to explore the galaxy with yout guys!

p.s. Was that TMI? Well, I guess it could be if any of it were true...:p
